Pet shop in Japan sells exotic pets in bad setups

Apparently there's a pet store/zoo called the NOAH Inner City Zoo. It's located in Tokyo, and it's in the second floor of an office building. Conditions are atrocious. Look at this video created by a clueless tourist:

(ignore crap music)

Animal welfare groups are already working to close the shop down, but they're doing nothing. Here's more stuff about this horrid place:

The worst part is that the people who buy them, would not be able to properly keep them.

Plus, I'm sure many of the animals (possibly including the penguins) were probably illegally stolen or smuggled from the wild (fruit bats, possibly turtles).

Of course they were, how else would they acquire these animals? I feel especially bad for the penguins, since there's probably no one on Earth who can properly contain and care for such birds. Do these people think they can just fill their bathtub with ice water and that's that (of course they're probably a tropical species)?

It's very depressing. What really disturbed me was how the capuchin monkey and the squirrel monkeys below were stored in cramped cages, even more cramped than other animals. The wolf was in poor shape and was probably starving as well.

Thank you for the set, Azrael!

Wow. This is really, really sad.

That wolf's entire life on a 6 foot tether, indoors. The toucan with its beak ripped apart by I presume feeble attempts to either get out or amuse itself to prevent insanity. Owls that experience nothing but sitting tethered immobile to a board. A monkey in a cage SIX TIMES smaller than that which I keep my pet finches in (and I would not keep them in anything much smaller).

The meerkat and the capuchin were especially heartbreaking.

"Please, please let me out. Please, save me."

"Aww, it's so cute, it wants to play!"

>.>

So you can just go into this building and say "yeah ooh this flamingo is cute, here's some money. Ooh and is that a kangaroo? I'll take that too, I have a big empty fishtank and can byy catfood for him"? Horrible. And all those animals that will never get bought or aren't at all suitable will just languish there dying (like that tortoise) forever. This is disgusting. I mean, at least the socialized meerkat, fox, jerboas and things aren't that hard to keep as pets - but penguins? Flamingos? Sloths? They're doomed no matter what.

Such pet shop just adds to "good" image of this whale-eating nation, already famous for cruelty and perversions...
They exterminated almost all wildlife on their islands, and now ravaging the world for their needs.
Remember, most of Japanese can's afford a pet larger than a goldfish... those animals would never get a more spacious 'home'.
In 80's, there were even some pet elephants in Japan.

Rat snake is love... Rat snake is life

This is so sad....

I was shock when I saw the penguins, sloth, wolf and mara.

This place must be closed now with all animals sent to zoos and rehab center.

There is always something going on...

No one notices that dead looking tortoise laying there? The Mara really surprised me, my local zoo don't even have a Mara, the hell?

You know a recurring theme I've noticed. Where do all these reports of atrocious zoos, illegal pet stores, and horrific animal abuse come from? Often from somewhere in Asia. The continent seems to think they're still in the middle ages with the disgusting way they treat animals!

I'm almost crying when I watch the video. :'(

It's very sad that most of the animals are endangered species, and the fact that they're placed in very cramped place makes it more atrocious. I'm very sad when looking at the tortoise, capuchin, meerkat, pig, toucan, and the wolf.

Who else wants to keep that wolf? Why they not putted in place that can take care of them, such as zoo or captivity?

Once again, atrocious. -.-
