Zoo tycoon 2 graphical limits?

Hi. I have a powerful laptop with a GEFORCE 750M. I can run dota 2 maxed, viva pinata maxed, i can play metro, battlefield, etc.

Yet no matter what, when I fill up my zoo I get lag. If I use max graphics on zoo tycoon 2 I get pretty terrible lag when I'm in normal view and zoomed out. Even if I lower the settings (and make it look like crap) I still get ~25-30 fps.

The game runs very smoothly though when the zoos are small (3-4 exhibits). There is no way this graphics card can't handel zoo tycoon 2, is it a game limit or something?

This has nothing to do with how powerfull your pc is, but with the amount of DL you have ingame, and how much foliage and water you use building a zoo. Foliage and water makes the game laggy.
So if you want a non-laggy zoo, don't use foliage of water :P
Otherwise: use lower graphics, and try to reduce your amount of downloads.
And see how far you can go. One computer can handle more foliage and water than another one. You'll have to find out what your pc can handle by yourself.

It will help a bit, but a large map full of water and foliage will keep getting lag.

You will respect my authoratah.

RAM seems to affect game performance way more then graphics card of CPU does on my computer. I notice my CPU is barely used but my RAM is maxed out. I think upgrade your RAM maybe.

Something concrete to stop the lag does not exist :)

The main issue that creates lag is the (effective) lack of LODs. Thus, at any time, the highly-detailed models and skins for every single user-made animal and objects have to be computed, and that load of data accumulates quickly. And even the default objects could and should revert more to save cpu power. ;)

But I don't see this situation changing any time soon, or ever at all, since creating LODs is an additional workload and nobody wants to do it, and nobody ever tried it (except me)...
