I've never seen any cetacean, iirc there's no dolphins in captivity in the UK (which is a good thing, I'd much rather see them in the wild)

One of the things I want to do before I die is to see all species of Sea Turtle in the wild (not in captivity) although I guess it's more 'before they go extinct' than before I die :S

I'll be crossing two more off the list though in 2 weeks time! I'll be going to Costa Rica and working with the Green Sea Turtle and Leatherback Sea Turtles laying eggs! :D Ahh so excited!
I've seen some cetaceans while on a ferry crossing to Irish see, but what species they were I couldn't tell either dolphin or porpoise. I know I've seen a dolphin leap out of the sea, but that was the only time I knew the species.

On one occasion I also saw a whale with a group of smaller cetaceans (either dolphins or porpoises). Any ideas of the toothed whale species likely to be found in the irish sea? I just know it had a noticeable melon.

Anyway I would like to see are larger species of cetacean, especially orca or any of the baleen whale species.

White-tailed eagles are also on my list. I also want to see a red kite fly over my house, I've seen them before at feeding stations in Wales, and over motorways, but I want to see one fly over my own home.

I'm not slow! That's just my moe!

so long as its a nice captive facility that I'm seeing the animals at, I don't feel the need to see animals in the wild
but thats just me

I never said I hate captivity, just that I enjoy seeing them in the wild more :)

I've only ever seen dead cetaceans, which have washed up on my local beach. Several Harbour Porpoises, a White-beaked Dolphin and a Sperm Whale, to be precise (and an Ocean Sunfish, but that's not a cetacean xD )

That's pretty damn cool, even though they're dead... Sperm whale must've been impressive :)
I have seen live cetaceans, a couple of harbour porpoises in Norway, but that was more than ten years ago. ;)

We regularly have red kites over the house / garden, they're nesting somewhere not too far from us :D

Regarding the topic title, I'm good with saying I haven't seen 99.9% of all animal species :P

Yeah, it was massive news when it washed up on our local beach :P in fact they made a documentary about its dissection, and most of the town were allowed to watch it from a distance

Reminds me of the fin whale that washed up here a couple years ago.
I managed to have a close look at it, thanks to my dad who works at the Natural Park.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

its literally impossible to see every species there is
every "major grouping", thats a mighty bit easier

Especially if you include invertebrate species, you'll die of old age before you see every single insect species, plus many insects don't have common names.

Pull my finger!

I'd love to see baleen whales.

Never seen an orca either, though preferably I'd rather see those in the wild.
