I agree. Tempers were heated for a short while, but it seems things are beginning to cool down again.

never felt especially heated to me at the time, but I can see it probably was more than I realized

Pull my finger!

In Australia, some conservationists have been known to shoot foxes and cats from their windows...

I've never in my life forgotten to feed an animal because I have a conscious and wouldn't put myself in a position where an animal is totally reliant on me to survive if I was to think I'd ever be so ignorant to forget about it and let it die.
I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with the topic at all? :/ How someone has cared for a pet in the past or how they should is completely irrelevant to trapping or killing of coyotes, or any animal.

I think letting cats outdoors is fine
so long as you already know there aren't native predators around

of course they would need collars with bells, as it keeps them being able to kill
Still, bell can't prevent them from killing some other helpless animal like fletchling birds, amphibian and some reptiles. :P

I think you may be underestimating how annoying a bell can be for a cat
some tend to give up hunting altogether when they feel they can't do it

Hm, I've actually never thought of investing in bells for my two cats.

They seem to have killed many of the mice near my house, and it would stop them from killing the frogs and songbirds that frequent my yard.
