What would anyone think if I made a pack containing a lot of rainforests plants and trees that are realistic. Like a more realistic version of the Kapok tree also! I want to make the rainforest in ZT2 more realistic by creating more plants and smaller shrubs that go on the forest floor then making taller trees so there will be a realistic canopy! |

I only wish that I could get help with someone! I don't even know where to get the skins but I really really want to do it so bad is there anyone that can help? I really want to remake the kapok tree and create a rubber tree. Also I want a wimba tree which is a very tall tree. I would also like to see a ficas tree and a stranger fig (if possible). These are not gate tired but if I ever make a rainforest plant pack I would want it to have this but I need help with textures and a bit with meshing plants. I can code them and just somewhat mesh. I can do a little basic nif coding. |

Most ( if not all ) of my plants and trees have custom made textures, mostly because there are very few textures available for more exotic trees ( like in this case, the Kapok ). TBH, I advice you to start with something easier than trees, simply because making trees might seem simple, but most people who make trees use an awful lot of unneeded vertices resulting in a very high-poly meshes. Which is the last thing you want when it comes to foliage. I know LODs are a thing now, but even with them you still need to balance your models out quite well . My advice would be to always try to keep it below 1000 verts ( 1200 for really big ones ), and of course using lods. My Kapok remake has a little over 800 verts, so it's really do-able to get a nice effect with lowpoly models. Start with something simply, because getting accustomed to the way of low-poly meshing trees require isn't something that comes overnight !

I agree with Iben. I will try my best! I wish I could mesh plants now and I have tried but it seems to be very dificult! Tank a palm tree as an example. How can I make the palms? I know you use planes and you curve them so you can put the texture on but it is still not that easy! What plant should I practice with first Iben? |

Iben is absolutely right. You need a lot of skill / training to be able to make good and effective lowpoly foliage. Making the models is not as easy as it seems, and creating the textures is often quite a challenge due to lack of usable references. Palm trees are probably among the easiest still, so you could try that. |

Palm Trees are indeed the ones you should start with. They're the easiest to work with. I myself work with a licensed version of SpeedTree Architect; so I can't really help you with meshing flora in Blender. It's a whole different process really. It took me about a 1,5 to 2 years to figure out how to work with all the different sliders, options and numbers in SpeedTree and employ it in such a way that you get decent lowpoly meshes. It isn't what the program is made for, so honestly I'd advice against it if you're not interested in using the program in your career later on, as it's a lot of hours you have to invest in it

I want to get an easier program then Milkshape3D which is what I use by importing and exporting wavefront objects which is easiest for me. I know almost every software has this plugin which means that is good!

I have also been working on Mod Editor. I also added a feature which also allows people to send downloads the ZT2 directory. Also I am adding features that allow you to delete codes from your projects in just a few clicks. I'm also working on a feature that allows you to type in the directory to your project then get all of your projects information. For example, it will show how many scenery objects, foliage, fences, paths, elevated paths, etc... That you have in your project. This will also include how many zoopedia pages and filters you have in your project. Not only will you have the ability to see how many objects and fences you have in your project but if you click on the number of whatever it is, for example if I clicked on how many fences I had, it would open another window containing each and every fence codename I have and if you click on one in the list they aprear in, you will be able to see all of its properties such as wether it is placeable in, if it is a low fence, if it climeable, (basically all the true and false properties and other properties shown in that objects XML file. Also and how many Models and icons the object has. Not only can you see that but I am going to try to make all Those properties editable/changeable from that window so you will not have to edit the XML file all the time. Please comment everyone! I will apreciate this. Will this help with modding the game? What you you think? Besides Adding/Removing objects to your project in Mod Editor, what else do YOU YOU think ZT2 Mod Editor should have that will help other designers create projects and Mod the Game? What tools should the software have that I have not yet mentioned in the past? Edited by LC Creations, Nov 19 2015, 08:40 PM.

I have just accomplished creating a software that can edit and change true and false properties of a fence for ZT2 without viewing the XML file in the AI directory that the object belongs to! |
