Awwww The Pistoia Zoo was my first zoo, I went there when I was just 3 ...It has been a long time since my last visit, how is it going now?

They are definately improving. The elephants are still in that cramped cage, but there's a new, larger outdoor area in the making for them (you can see it in the last pic, it's still being worked on). And according to the site, they are planning a large savannah herbivores exhibit, which means the giraffes should get more space too. The big carnivores all got new, large exhibits, the 4 exhibits for ratites have been merged into a signle one for South American animals (rhea, tapir, agouti and capybara), and they've added a lemur walkthrough and a meerkat dome. There's still stuff that needs to be improved, some exhibit still look old style (not really a problem), the hippos have too little space, and the waterfowl lake actually got worst, since it's almost devoid of life now except for a flock of pelicans, an army of sliders and few ducks/cormorants. |
