This is just a quick little experiment into ingame photography, though even this caused be a ton of hassle. Extinction All things eventually die, even those who were the fittest, those who should, by all accounts, be perfectly suited for their world. But even, despite all of their adaptations, their instincts, and their knowledge. Despite all their claws, and their scales, and their feathers, and their fur, despite their eggs, and their embryos, and their lifecycles, and their minds, extinction comes to all. ![]() A tyrannosaurus stalks a pack of Struthiomimus. They themselves are perfectly aware of its presence, but do not mind it, if need be, they are more then capable of outrunning it. This is late cretaceous north america, a buzzing hive of life, with lush forests and vast mountains, where dozens of species across several clades live side by side, each filling out their own niches. ![]() Various ecosystems exist throughout the lands, ranging from dense forests and murky swamps, to great mountains and open plains. The animals found within these places are the product of millions of years of evolution, creatures with vast histories, stored in their very genes. Many of them are also to be the last of their kind, for had they been born but one generation back, they would have happily lived out their lives, never knowing of what was to come, just a few decades later. ![]() It begins as a small gleaming dot in the sky, an insignificant glimmer against the vastness of the void. Yet it continues to grow. Eventually, it has become large, filling up much of the heavens above, and coating the mountain tops in a redish light. The animals below at first head no attention to it, unaware of its significance, and the great destruction that it heralds. They continue on with their daily lives. ![]() Eventually, it grows too large to remain up in the heavens, and falls from the sky, a smoldering ball of fire, plummeting down towards the earth. Now, several animals have begun paying attention to it, aware of the great danger about to befall them. The entire world is bathed in red light, as the great rock falls behind the mountains. For a moment, there is silence, peace. Then, in a bright flash of light, begins the end of this world, and the beginning of the next. ![]() The animals are dazed, incapable of understanding what is going on. The bright light blinds them, and the intense heat that flashes throughout the lands gives them but a taste of what is to come. The sky, the earth, the mountains, the forests, all swallowed by this intense glare, which temporarily blankets the world. Then it is gone, the world is back to normal. For a second, all seems to be good, the animals begin to resume their daily lives, though still alert. Then it comes, a great wind, bellowing through the lands. It rips the leaves of the trees, and turns the waters into great waves, crashing over the land. The animals panic, dashing for the low ground. But most of them are to late, for the final, and greatest cataclysm, has yet to come. ![]() It is a wall of dust, so high, the sky itself is clouded out of view. It charges across the lands, destroying everything in its path, ending dozens of species in an instance, and bringing the ultimate doom upon the lands. The animals not instantly destroyed by the impact run for their lives, but are far to slow to outrun the molten wall. It sweeps across the world, ending the Mesozoic, and starting a thousand years of dust and gloom. ![]() When the dust settles, and the last shock-waves have ended, the world as it was just a few hours ago, is no more. Gone are the forests and plains, the lakes and swamps, and the dozens of creatures within them. The few that survived now stand in a ruined world, and will spend the rest of their lives fighting for survival in a charred wasteland. The time of the dinosaurs is over, and while eventually, new species will adapt, and fill the niches the impact left open, this fact is little comfort to those standing on the smoldering remains of a once lush world. |

That would still imply it existed at the time. There is no reason to assume it was not widespread. The only grass preserved was in a dinosaurs maw, so the odds of us finding it are low. |

Yes, grass was found to have existed in the later stage of the Mesozoic, but again, it seems unlikely that it covered the entire landscape; ferns still would have been dominant. On topic, though, the shots are amazing and the narration is superb. I give it a thumbs up. |

I love this! The only thing I'm not too keen on is the effects on the first picture, it makes the dinosaurs look slightly transparent in my opinion.

The first picture was kinda an experiment on the effects. All the images have two filters, one for the sky, and one for the ground, but in the first one, the opacity was too high. |
