That is among the most terrifying things I've ever seen. By the way can I just note that people mock supposedly implausible cryptids when something like this that looks like it belongs in a B-Horror movie is a real thing |

With a little luck you can find its smaller relatives in the US, like Corydalus cornutus. ![]() Their larvae can be kept in aquariums.

Going a little more distantly related, but still within the Order Megaloptera, the UK has the alderfly (Sialis lutaria), and its larvae look almost as monstrous as this Giant Dobsonfly. |
