Right, so i could save some files from my old decrepit former HD, and managed to save most if not all of ROTK, its getting released very soon as the last two animals are being finished, anyway for those who didn't know, ROTK was originally made by me to add more animals to mine and lego's steppe biome, but thoroughly evolved into a full fledged expansion. so here it is: ![]() Welcome to the khan's yurt!, take a seat and serve yourself from a plate of kushuur while i shall introduce you to the wonders of the steppe! Ahhh the great eurasian steppe, the world's largest contiguous grassland, former homeland of the mighty Khans such as the great Genghis himself, from Ukraine to Manchuria, from Mongolia to Tatarstan and from Crimea to the Tarim Basim, the great steppe guards many animal treasures of wich i will bring to you 6, so package down your yurts, lift up your nomadic caravans and lets travel trough the great steppe! Animals: Steppe Eagle: (Aquilla nipalensis) The steppe eagle is a large bird of prey native to all over the great steppe, fierce and powerfull predators these animals are used by the Turkic-Mongolian nomads of the steppe on the traditional sport of wolf hunting and are a specially popular bird amongst Mongolian and Kazakh falconeers. Corsac Fox (Vulpes corsac) ![]() (note: the pic on the box is visibly without the teeth, the final animal will have teeth) The corsac fox is perhaps the most widespread canine of all the steppe, living in almost everywhere in the steppe, from Russia and eastern Ukraine up to Mongolia and northern China, long known by fur traders for its valuable pelt, the corsac fox was once extensively hunted, but recovered itself well and today is the most numerous canine in the steppe, its closely related to the foxes of the himalayas, tough its much more adaptable, and was this adaptability who made the corsac fox such a sucessfull animal on the steppe. Caspian Seal (Pusa Caspica) ![]() The Caspian Seal is one of the world's most unique pinnipeds, for its perhaps one of the only 4 species of seal confined to landlocked bodies of water, and in the case of the caspian seal, this body of water is none other than the Caspian sea, right in the middle of the western gates of the steppe, landlocked on their sea wich is actually a huge saltwater lake, the caspian seal is one of the most iconical residents of the western part of the steppe and also stand out amongst other pinnipeds for its blue-ish dotted coat who made them valuable amongst hunters and almost drove them to extinction, today, all around in the countries that share the waters of the caspian seal, these small pinnipeds are protected and are slowly recovering in numbers. Tough they might be rare and hard to spot, its always fantastic to have a glance of one of the world's smallest pinnipeds and a true jewel of the steppe. Beluga Sturgeon (Huso huso) The Beluga is the world's largest river fish, reaching astonishing 7.8m at max, its larger than some whales! these majestic monsters live all around the brackish waters of the caspian sea and tributary rivers such as the Ural and Volga and are known all around in the steppe for their precious caviar, wich also brought these leviathans to the brink of extinction, being perhaps one of the world's rarest large fish. Today caviar extraction from the beluga sturgeon is heavily regulated and there are many efforts on the countries that share the caspian to save these magnificent creatures, still, many illegal harvesting occurs and overfishig of its natural prey items also threaten the survival of this icon of the caspian sea and one of the most precious treasures of the steppe Pallas's cat(Otocolobus manul) ![]() The Pallas's cat is one of the world's most unique felines,Its short, stouty silhouette and its flat face are just unmistakable, and not only that, but these inquisitive little creatures are one of the few feline small cats that don't purr and instead, it does this high pitched sound similar to the chirping of a small bird, the pallas cat is native to all over the steppe, however even tough its distribution may be vast, its patched, with many populations becoming isolated making it difficult to protect this species, who even tough not endengered is severely threatened by habitat destruction and poaching as the beautifull blue coats of these elusive little creatures are highly valuable on the pelt trade, wich leads to overhunting. Mongolian Gazelle (Procapra gutturosa) The mongolian gazelle is perhaps world's most numerous large animal, forming herds of over 10000 individuals, the herds of these docile greatures are one of Mongolia's most magnificent sights, amazing travelers since the ancient times, historicaly, its range overlapped with the mongolian saiga (saiga tatarica mongolica), but the latter is now confined to the reaches of the gobi desert. Since ancient times mogolian gazelles are prized hunting targets by the nomads of the steppe, who often train larger golden eagles to hunt them down. These are much needed animals! The Pallas's cat seems... strange. I think the model needs more on it, or it just needs more... fluff. Though hair is really hard to model. Perhaps the eyes should be smaller too. That and it had blue eyes. Most of the pictures I've seen, they have yellowish brownish eyes. ![]() Sorry if this is too critical. I know modeling and skinning is hard... |

These are great! My favourites are the Caspian seal & the Pallas's cat, though I think the cat's eyes should be more greenish. Other than that, very nice work!

Its not, criticism is always welcome, don't be afraid of being critical, criticism is what helps people to improve their work now, what you see in the palla's cat is a common misconception That is because most pictures show them on crouching position, wich is really, the position they spend most of the day it doesn't look as furballish or "fluffy" when standing or walking ![]() about the eyes, they have varying eye colors, with various shades of green but mostly they are famous for their tourquoise green eyes ![]() |
