Hmm, I really want to be a conservationist but since I am doing an extra course on graphics, I may also be a graphic designer... I don't really mind what job I have, I just want to have an enjoyable job ( mostly jobs which involve Animals )

I'd love to study wildlife in real nature, travelling a lot and discover new animal species, but quantum mechanics and that kind of stuff also seem interesting. Also directing movies or writing books/comics would be awesome. No real idea what I want to do with my life

Let's see As a child I always wanted to be two things: an architect and a dolphin trainer After high school, I started uni and got my degree in architecture. After that I didn't really feel like working yet, so I took a second course; this time: animal care After I got my second degree, I started looking for a job. But as Stephen already mentioned: there are a lot of animal caretakers that want to be a zookeeper and there just aren't enough zoos in Belgium to give them all a job Best way to go at it is by doing voluntary work in a zoo or other type of animal park after you graduated. Which I did in SeaLife Belgium. After a while I managed to get a part-time job there But I still dream of working with dolphins one day @ Flower: Are you saying you would like to work in Zoo Antwerp? |

Well, yeah because my closest uncle and his family lives there, and the zoo I saw in their videos and pics was so ![]() And I love animals more than money, so I would go for that.

I would like to be a pianist or a Zoologist, but my parents say I will die of hunger if I am one of those But I agree, because there is no labor market for these two professions in Brazil. So I'm going to live abroad, probably in Australia or Spain, where my family lives(I would have a house there xD) I think that's better than live unhappy for my lifetime.

As someone who's very interested in Architecture and will be devoting five years to getting a Master's degree in that subject, how is it in school? Was there a lot of studio time or more regular study? And since some of us are talking about the where aspect of our careers, I'm hoping to study and eventually live in Australia (which probably isn't much of a surprise xD). |

Ever since I was a little kid, I've always wanted to work with "wild animals." I'm not really sure exactly what I want to do though and I'm pretty much open to anything. I've thought about being a zookeeper, but the pays not really that great. Pursuing a career in zoology, conservation or animal education (like the people that bring some of the less dangerous animals to events and educate people on them) is a real possibility. Recently I've also considered architecture as a career. I'm not sure exactly what I would want to do with it, but zoo architecture seems appealing. Another thing that's quite unlikely to actually happen is being a professional pole vaulter. It's been a dream of mine to one day get to the Olympics. |

I second this. I love football, hopefully I'll play in college, but I don't hope on making the NFL. Anyways, I've always wanted to work with animals in their natural habitats, and yeah working in a zoo would be cool too, but there's a ton of things that I want to do as well. I'd love to work with primates or small cats in South America, along with sloths and macaws. I want to experience the feelings of finding a hurt animal, experience the joys of helping it get back on it's feet, and even the bitter sweetness of releasing back to where it belongs. I want to travel, meet different people and do crazy things. That's also why I'm considering the family history of joining the military. I have one main goal in life: To sit on my deathbed and be able to look back on my life and say to myself "I did something. I made a difference." Aside from that, I want to open a zoo, maybe in Puerto Rico. The zoo's there, from what I can find, aren't so great, but maybe I could do something about that. Edited by Drax, Oct 17 2014, 04:50 PM.

I want to be a wildlife photographer. It's my dream job, preferrably with someone who can travel with me, e.g. Thornberry style. ![]() But first, I'm going to take up law after I finish my Psych course. My mother told me I need a backup job in case the wildlife photography thing doesn't work out. |

Well, I don't know how it goes in other countries. But I can tell you how it was for me. It's 5 years of studying. With each year some basic regular classes like architectural history, structural physics and maths, huge courses of different building materials and their characteristics, languages, and economics. Then 1st year you learn how to work with all the different computer programs: autodesk, photoshop, 3ds max. And not unimportant either: you learn how to draw some basic things: stairs, doors, windows, etc. For the next 4 years you get a project at the beginning of the year and take up the rest of the year to finish. This main project combines basically everything you learn during your classes. And every year is build up the same. You have 4 periods each year in which you have to work on a particular stage of your project. Basically you can compare these stages with the actual stages of a real-life project: Basic Sketch; Advanced Sketch; Plans for the Government; Actual Building Plans. After each period you have the come in front of a jury where you defend your plans (basic plans, garden design, colored presentation plans, electricity plans, water system plans, 3D simulation plans, etc.). You actually start out quite simple: a small house. Second project: a small apartment building. Now we move on to some more advanced work: a large office building combined with a store; on which you work in a team of 2 students. Last project is something huge, like a large hotel or apartment building. Now you have to work together with multiple students. It's not much real studying and exams. It's more combining everything there is to know about building something into one major project. Although for the smaller classes you get separated exams. In the beginning you actually need an entire year to draw that simple house; but by the time you graduate, you should be able to finish that same building in only 1 maximum 2 months time ![]() The worst part for me was that there were times I spend up to 15 hours a day behind my computer just to draw dimension lines on otherwise finished plans

I'd love to be a zoo curator, or someone like Steve Corwin and go around the world educating people about animals, my other dream job if those don't work out is being the guy who arranges breeding programs for animals in zoos. (when I told this to my dad he called me the "animal pimp") |
