Could an Alligator and an Alligator Snapping Turtle be kept together? I believe there is a combination like that in either the Fort Worth Zoo or Dallas Zoo, I can't remember which. |

Cowrie: IDK about the lorikeets but razorbill and puffin works, might need to make some edits if you want eiders because IIRC those don't nest on cliffs. Narcissa: That is done by multiple facilities, provided the size of the animals discourages them from attacking each other (so no babies). |

Biodome has Atlantic puffins and eiders together. They even have a mirrored set-up with small penguins. Puffins actually don't do well with cliffs at all, they prefer flat ground or even substrate. I've seen lorikeets kept with everything from scarlet macaws to spoonbills and even an owl, but I ahve no idea in regards to native coexisting species (budgies should work lol). Do you think zebra finches would be okay with lorikeets, or would the smaller finches be at risk of bullying or injury? |

I don't know for sure but I wouldn't try it because they hunt on larger animals than Binturongs (even adult Water Buffaloes). Also some nice combination for people who want to try something else. I've just read that Artis (Amsterdam Zoo, The Netherlands) is trying to combine Californian Sea Lions with African Penguins and Eiders. |

@Cowrie: I don't see why the combination wouldn't work. The finches should be fine. @Animales: I'm not sure either if binturongs work with Asiatic black bears but you could keep them together wirh foxes, jackals or hanuman langurs. Jackals and foxes often live together with bears and the langurs have been successfully combinated with the bears in Ostrava (CZ). Edited by Jony, Apr 8 2017, 11:33 AM.

I think I saw that combo at the St. Louis Zoo years back but I could be mistaken. Can raccoon be safely kept with skunks? |

A piece of toast and a terminator.

Can I keep anything with a Tylosaurus? Maybe something too small that it won't eat them but enough to make the exhibit more interesting. |

I normally don't ask for extinct animals but I was pondering this today. Would Spinosaurus and Sarcosuchus work? I'm going to assume no but couldn't hurt to ask. |

Definitely not. Those are two super-predators. I'd say there is a slim chance they could co-exist.

In order to find an animal that can co-exist with it, you'd need to find an animal that is invulnerable to the Tylo like something with a big shell or a million times bigger than it. Like some sort of herbivorous giant whale or ammonite or maybe even an Archelon |

They didn't actually coexist in life, just pointing that out since so many documentaries claim they did. It would probably work, neither was adapted for hunting large semi-aquatic animals. Both were likely fish specialists. |

Based upon what I'm reading, they did coexist--North Africa around 112 mya? It could be possible that they didn't have the same habitats, though, I'm not sure. And I would say it's a hard no, Sarcosuchus may have been a generalist predator, and even if it wasn't, or it wasn't large enough to threaten Spino, competition for resources could lead to aggression. I wouldn't take the chance. |
