Actually emu/red kangaroo is quite an ubiquitous combination when it comes to Australian section of ''Western World' zoos.

Of course! Seen that combination in a lot of places. All small antelopes work with okapi.

Would Saola work with Lowland Anoas or Malayan Tapirs? |

Well the first thing is that there are no saola in captivity as far as I can tell, and second is that combining anoa with anything is a pretty risky move, they are quite aggressive and with their short but pointy horns they can inflict some serious damage. It's not impossible however. |

Ok i've been back to building lately and i have a few questions about mixed exhibits. 1. Is there anything that could share an exhibit with black rhinoceros? 2. Can i put red-flanked duikers in an elephant exhibit? 3. What can i combine with african buffalos? Could some bird or other ungulate share the exhibit? And something not related to mixed exhibits but related to the buffalo exhibit: should i make the exhibit more in a savannah style or a wetlands style? |

1 - I've seen them with cheetahs and patas, I've also seen them with Dama gazelle and some Sahel birds, jackals could perhaps work but I don't know, ![]() 2 - I wouldn't do it even though I guess it could work 3 - I've seen them with smaller ungulates and birds indeed, IIRC Antwerp has an aviary with buffalos and birds which is really cool. Generally you can see them in savanna padocks in Western World zoos (grass + sand or sometimes just grass and dirt) but a wetland exhibit with some smaller birds and a few small mammals sounds really cool!

Do we know enough about abyss fish to combine them? If so, does anybody know what fish that can share a tank? I was thinking about an oarfish/coelacanth tank but I'm not entirely sure if it would work. |

They live in very different depths and temperature so it absolutely would not work. You could probably keep ceolocanths with surface fish actually. |

As long as you have a safe zone, you can combine elephants with other animals: gazelles, warthogs, patas monkeys,... Duikers tend to live in forest areas, so maybe it is not the best option. Edited by Vigoga, May 28 2017, 07:02 AM.

Red-flanked Duikers live mostly in savannas/woodlands I thought? And that combination should work. I've seen African Elephants kept with Red River Hogs and that worked fine. You could always place some obstacles in the exhibit which the Duikers could pass, but not the Elephants to create safe zones in case the Elephants are chasing them. But in the zoo I saw them with the Red River Hogs, the Hogs could get very close without the Elephants caring about them. |

Well to be fair, Red-flanked duikers are savanna animals (one of the few ''savanna duiker"). ![]() Edit: Ninja'd

Therizinosaurs are mostly found near freshwater ecosystems, swamps namely, and most derived ceratopsians (regardless of size) are typically found in coastal marshlands, so I think they'd do quite well together in captivity. |
