I don't believe I've heard of many combinations with mandrills, but their closest relatives, drills, have been kept with pelicans, guenons, pygmy hippos and various waterfowl; I suspect mandrills could be combined in a similar fashion. |

What about large hoofstock like a Sitatunga? I know they've been mixed with Gorilla's before, can't remember where though. |

Would be ok to combine Marabou storks with black rhinoceros? And is it better to keep them in more arid or more wet exhibits? |

I think they'd do fine in a dry exhibit with a water source (which could give the rhino a bath chance too). Is it possible to combine different species of tortoises of different sizes ? Like, Madagascar spider and radiated ? (As adults). |

Yeah it is possible. LA Zoo does that combination. One I've seen was Red Footed Tortoise, Russian Tortoise, Burmese Mountain Star Tortoise, Three-Toed Box Turtle and Ornate Box Turtle. |

It's okay to mix species, but they have to have similar requirements. So yes, your combination I would say is fine, but spider tortoises are still rare enough that it may not be the best idea depending on the behavior of the radiated tortoises. Because radiateds are larger, they can bully and harass the spider tortoises. |

I've seen secretary birds with saddle-billed storks before and columbus combines secretary birds and the cranes. I don't know if the marabou would work with them though iirc, they are more aggressive than saddle-billed. |

Thank you I think I will give it a try then. Also another question. Yesterday evening I was thinking about Indian Elephants, are there any known combinations in zoos? With African Elephants I've seen a lot, but can't find anything with Indian/Asian Elephants. My idea was to combine them with Indian Rhinoceros in a very large exhibit (2,2 hectares/5,5 acres). Could this be possible? I don't know any combinations with African Elephants/Rhinoceros but I do know about African Elephants and Giraffes (okay Giraffes are not Rhinoceros, but still large animals). Also Asian Elephants are less agressive if I'm remember corretly? Do you think this would be possible? Also a question about Indian Rhinoceros, is it possible to keep them with more than one female in the same exhibit? Edited by KoenZoo, Jun 11 2017, 04:59 AM.

I think this is possible, IIRC I've read about it. Just remember to give separate stables for each animal. |

In addition to this, I've seen marabous with crowned cranes and several smaller birds (bald ibis and hamerkop). If the exhibit is sufficiently large, I don't think there'll be any problems. |
