Would incisivosaurus and microraptor work together well, or would the combo lead to mass chaos? How about chirosthenotes and microraptor? Edited by ZoologicalBotanist, Sep 25 2017, 02:55 AM.

Chiro would probably eat Microraptor but I bet the former combo could work, if a bit of speculation is put in place. |

Thanks! Now I have to fix my incisivosaurus, then build an awesome combo. Also, could they get along with woodpeckers? I was thinking: Incisivosaurus - Forest floor, Microraptor - Mid story, Woodpecker - Canopy. If not woodpeckers, then what bird would you recommend? Microraptor ate birds, so it would have to be something similar or larger in size. |

I'm making a zoo inspired by one of Nils's Zoos and I was wondering if a toucan could go with a small rodent such as an agouti. |

Are there any freshwater crustaceans that can be kept with giant water bugs and/or other aquatic insects without risk of predation to either party? |

Don't think so, I've kept shrimps with a water beetle once but it was a 35 or so litres tank so there was a lot of room for both to avoid each other. (And we don't have any for the game)

Can I safely exhibit several different species of Pitta together? If not what can I exhibit them with that won't be bothered by the birds? |

Well I'd say the main problem would be inbreeding, which I don't think you'd want to occur for such small and rare birds. You can combine pittas with lots of things: shamas, bulbuls, mouse deers, starlings, pigeons etc.... Any basic Asian (or African if you go with 1 of the 2 African species of pittas) passerine combination would work, really. Edited by Zoo Tycooner FR, Oct 31 2017, 09:59 AM.

Pittas are generally shy and reclusive birds so I wouldn't house them with anything too rambunctious (starlings for example), at least not in a smaller aviary. If you have a large walk-through or something where they can hide, anything that won't eat them is pretty much fair game I'd say. As for keeping multiple species of Pitta together, I think they might get territorial in a small aviary where they have to compete for ground space, but again, in a larger setting that shouldn't be a problem. Interbreeding is really only a risk with closely related species, such as the three banded pittas and the Indian/Blue-winged/Mangrove/Fairy species complex. |

Can they be combined with smaller lizards like chamelons and geckos?

Depends on the species; some lizards could eat eggs or the pittas themselves, and some pittas are known to feed on vertebrates like lizards. I wouldn't do it in a small exhibit. Of course, in large settings with large populations it wouldn't matter much, as is the case in Burgers' Bush, where hooded pittas and multiple small anole species are present in a large walkthrough jungle. |
