As I feared.. :S

Very comprehensive reply, thank you! And fish that can live with gharials? Perhaps tiny fish like Danio, so small as not to attract their attention..? Sorry for all of these questions but I am planning a zoo like Singapore's River Safari.

Actually San Diego Zoo Safari Park keeps their Gaur with a whole bunch of animals, so as long as you have plenty of space, it should be fine.

As for the Gharials, while I wouldn't dare put any fish in their habitat, there's a variety of small turtles that would do just fine combined with them :)

Small turtles would actually be at some risk for consumption, but animals medium to large size, like fly river turtles, any softshell and large terrapins can be combined. Also snapping turtles can be combined, but... don't have more than one turtle in the exhibit if you are housing snappers. But small turtles, like musk turtles and baby turtles could be consumed by gharials.

Also, if it's an expendable fish (e.x. tilapia, guppies), then it's actually not that bad. National Zoo combines gharials with tilapia, because they are quite fast and are rarely catched. So I think most small fish would be fine.

Things like guppies and tetras should be fine, I've seen them housed with dwarf crocs and caimans before.

The same goes for the River dolphins that someone asked about a couple pages back. They provide so little nutritious value that the dolphins won't go through the effort of catching them, and if they do it's only very minor damage, as they are expendable.

That being said you could probably house small fish like guppies in pretty much every single freshwater exhibit without too much difficulty.

Does anyone know what species I could combine with swamp wallabies?
Australian ducks or black swans would go great with swamp wallabies.

Wouldn't swans become aggressive during nesting season ?

Is walkin' with a dead man.

What can I mix with manta rays? I kinda want to mix them with black tip reef sharks, but wouldn't they attack eachother?

Mantas should be large enough to be safe, and the tank you would house them in should be large enough to allow both species to coexist.

If you need more ideas, check the Ocean Voyager tank at the Georgia Aquarium, they got mantas with a whole lot of other animals (including whale sharks).

A piece of toast and a terminator.

Can I make a giant tank with Spotted Eagle Rays, a Green sea turtle, a Zebra shark, possibly a moray, a Humphead wrasse, and other fish?

Also, what can Leopard and Port Jackson sharks be mixed with? Can they even go together?

I've literally seen the top combo, though I'd add some smaller guys in there too. Adds colour.

For the bottom, they'd be fine, but I wouldn't combine them, they don't live anywhere near each other. Instead choose Horn Sharks, and they can all live with rockfish, bat rays, seabass, and lots more.

Thanks! I'm looking at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Kelp Forest tank for inspiration.

So I assume its ok that I put some tipila or some kind of goose/duck with pygmy hippos, right? Just wanted to make sure. Also, what kind of duck would be like the most logical choice? What other species besides these two could go with the hippos?

Personally I like to use Pigmy Goose. You could probably try Nile goose too, but they become really aggressive when nesting, and would attack any other bird. Mallards are always an option too.
As for other species, I'd say freshwater turtles, but we have none from the same area of the hippos.

Tilapia and other large freshwater fish are often combined with Pygmy hippos, and I'm fairly certain any species of smaller waterfowl would work with them. Fulvous and White-faced whistling ducks come to mind, and so do things like Egyptian and Pygmy geese. (EDIT: Darn, ninja'd haha)

Duikers tend to work well together with Pygmy hippos too, Burger's Zoo in the Netherlands keeps Western blue duikers with their Pygmy hippo.
San Diego Zoo keeps their Pygmy hippos with Wolf's guenon, and while I have read some negative reviews about it it seems to work.
Also, don't quote me on this, but I believe Pygmy hippos have also been successfully housed together with various Otter species.
