You can mix those with large catfish like channel, blue and flathead (bullheads are probably too small and would be eaten), buffaloes (the fish, not the cattle) and gars. If you don't care about different locations then there's more, just look at te Cabelas Bass Pro Shops tanks. As for the cetaceans, you could probably do that, although I don't really see a reason to put the two species that close, since they con't even live in the same habitat. |

Actually to be perfectly honest I don't think the dolphin combo would work at all. Carnivorous species sharing an exhibit rarely works out, they'll see each other as competition and could attack, etc. Plus then there's the fact that Beluga are arctic, while Bottlenose Dolphins are temperate/tropical... EDIT: Actually, seems I was wrong. The Odessa City Dolphinarium, and probably some other parks, seems to host shows with both species together. I'm not sure if they are permanently in the same enclosure or not, however. I wouldn't do the combination either way, no real use in having them share an exhibit (With or without barriers/nets between the 2 species), just makes it harder for maintenance really, and as Furka said they aren't sympatric in the wild. SeaWorld has Bottlenose and Pilot Whales sharing the offshow areas, so you could probably keep the two together if it wasn't for geographical range difference (and all that comes with it, like water temperature and such). |

They might be well together, but one lives in the Atlantic and the other lives in the Pacific. @Vision, If you're talking about my Beluga/Bottlenose combo, they're tanks are right next to each other's (the Beluga section actually goes into the Arctic section, and I designed the area to house my zoo's two species of cetaceans. So I have this large Savannah mixed paddock, and I was thinking about throwing hornbills in there. My main concern are the guineafowls, would they be threatened by the hornbills ? And what about baby ostriches ? EDIT: also, what's a mid-sized animal that I can combine with gibbons in an aviary ? Edited by Furka, Sep 27 2015, 03:33 PM.

Ostrich chicken shouldn't be a problem. I know about at least one zoo housing otriches and ground hornbills together with other savannah animals. Not sure about the guineafowls though, they are much weaker. Asian small-clawed otters would work, in case you count them as mid-sized. |

They would fit, but the exhibit is land based, and to add enough water I'd ruin all the climing structures I built. |

I suppose, you could add mouse deer. Those would work fine. Serows might work as well. (Sumatran kind) |

No to the first, but you could do Congo Buff/Red River Hog/Monkeys/Spotted-neck Otter, and then have a "hagenbecked" Pygmy Hippo in there, perhaps. To the second, yeah it'd work but why would you when you could do Przewalski's Horse + Bactrian Camel? That way it's all nice and makes sense geographically. |

Could you mix small dogs, say a fox, with large ungulates like Buffalo, Red deer, and the like? |
