You're welcome! :) Guess I'll make one for MM too, just to have them all covered. ;)

It looks like you figured out how to fix the stars as well? I've set my game to 1366x768 resolution (since that is the resolution my laptop has). And it's beautiful and crisp once more.

@Hendrix: Could you post an EA link that's zipped, cause Chrome is labeling it malicious.

EDIT: Got it, nevermind. :)

We have to differentiate it here a bit:

Step one is just modifying the EXE so it fills the screen correctly, at the resolution we want.
But then it still renders as if it was a 4:3 resolution; that means you get it nicely crisp, but it's actually stretched. You don't really notice it, because it's already rendered with that stretch, so you don't get a loss in render quality. But everything in the 3D window is slightly wider than it's supposed to be. The result is image two in post #1 - it is pretty much the same as image one stretched to fit, just without quality loss. I'm currently using this setup too.

Now comes step two: Here we add in the Z2F with the modified camera XMLs. This gives us the correct aspect ratio back, you will notice that you can overlay image one onto image three, and image 3 contains additional view at the sides. So what was black before is now actually rendered. You can also see it was not supposed to be rendered like that because the shadow fades out in that area - look at the zoowall. If we modify only the camera XML, we get something I have not pictured, where the 3D UI elements like zoo fame stars and animal selector do not appear where they're supposed to be, but closer to the middle. They retain their old position, while the UI adapts to the new screen.

So here comes step three, where we modify the layout shell XML to fit the 3D overlay elements. And this is what's in the widescreen Z2F, so 3D and 2D UI elements match up at least, even if at unfamiliar positions, and the real 3D part renders at the correct aspect ratio.

The optimal solution would be not to move the UI elements around, but those 3D overlays instead. The problem is that they don't want to be moved. At least they don't move if their parents in the shell are moved. Perhaps their position is hardcoded in the EXE. This is something we have to research for a perfect widescreen hack. It may also be in the layout or template XMLs and I'm just too dumb to find it / modify it properly! :P

Here's all Widescreen material so far!

Oh and I feel like this should get pinned, since it's kind of a big deal I guess ;)

For some reason, the stars and the animals when selected for adoption aren't in the right places.

I have a quick question. Will this patch work for ZT2 plus all the expansions separately, or will it only work for UC?

Would any of Snowloeo's stuff cause problems?

There's an EXE for ZT2 + all expansions, and another EXE for ZT2 UC. If you have other versions that you want me to patch, you have to upload them for me.

Yeah, the camera hack for example messes with the stuff that comes in the Z2F - it's not really bad though, then you simply don't use the Z2F and just use the EXE.

Why it's a valid question??

You need the modified exe files for your game version, they are inside the RAR archives.

Ya, I've been having problems too. And since it looks like HENDRIX is taking questions I'll ask one. So I just got a new computer. The screen is smaller than my other one. Anyways do we need to open up the RAR files and put them in zt2 or is it more complex?
