Being that you are painting it by hand, rather than photosourcing, I suggest to follow this tutorial. http://w11.zetaboards.com/Tethys_Coast/topic/8449782/1/ |

How about instead of saying that, you give some actual constructive criticism. Slappio, The deer looks good actually, the texture is very clean. All it needs is a little bit of highlighting and shading to show the muscles.

Well thats hard to do, if you really barely see the deer. Because for me it's also really hard to see it in this image. It kinda looks like through heavy mist. ;-) |

Sorry for the confusion, the deer is only visible on a black background. I must have messed it up somehow. It's visible depending on which site theme you use. @Tyranachu: Thanks for the advice! |

Oh, that makes sense. I'm on TRT theme which is white. I changed my theme to see it. It's coming along well.

Anhui Musk Deer V5![]() This should be visible, since I didn't mess with the file format this time . Using the tutorial Gamin' Wombat linked me to, I tried shading and highlighting this time. I would also love to have some variant ideas.

It looks much better now. If you want to change something, look, where is lighter fur, like on the belly or around the eyes. But all in all: good progress! |

I'd still suggest photo-sourcing for the areas that require detail (like the face). There are also good references for muscle detail in the neck, shoulders, legs, etc., if you don't want to (or don't have the skill to, like myself) paint them all in by hand. Just a suggestion
