Thanks. This is how it's going so far:

Sorry for the thing in the way. Does anyone know how to fix the weirdly shaded bits on the abdomen? Also, the mandibles are going to be done by alphas. Is it too high-poly, do you think?

There is always something going on...

What is the vertex count? I'm not too sure about the abdomen.

originally, one_piece

for the sake of all new blender artists in general and ZT2 designers in paticurlar out there (and also because i'm bored x3 ), here is a tutorial for fixing bad normals: http://thezt2roundtable.com/topic/11181853/1/

and to know the vert count of your mesh, check this pic:

The mesh is finished. I don't know if I did the things for the legs, mandibles, and antennae.... It's got 264 vertices.

Looks nice, what group of beetle are you trying to create?

Ground Beetle. I think I'm gonna change the thorax and antennae around a bit tho.

I'm also gonna do a tiger, stag, and scarab.

Awesome :D! You should use the coding for keepers and make a dung beetle that can clear up poop! :)

Here's a skunk I've been working on... I need help with the feet but everything else is fine, I think, but some comments and constructive criticism would be nice ;)

EDIT: Here's a good look at the terrible feet xD

EDIT: If anyone could show me how to make realistic toes with claws, I'd be able to finish it up...

I was just idly looking across the web for downloads when I stumbled upon your thread and I'm pleasantly surprised to see a skunk! It's definitely adorably skunklike with the tiny head and the big body. They're some of my favourite animals so it's really rad to see an up-to-date model of one for Zoo Tycoon 2! I eagerly await the final result.

As for the feet, I suggest looking at pics of paws of mephits and mustelids in general. I know someone, I think HENDRIX, made an European badger for the game, with claws. Perhaps you can take some inspiration from that? Skunk paws differ in that they're smaller and the nails are less broad. I hope that's of any help! I'm new to ZT designing after all.

So, I've decided to make a couple more animals before the big release containing updated black-footed ferret, black-tailed prairie dog, california ground squirrel, and the two new animals.

I'll give a few hints.

Animal #1: large ungulate
Animal #2: large rodent

Both animals are native to North America, and neither are extinct.

Happy guessing!

By the way, I've been having problems using APE II to code. Nothing that I've coded with it appear at all ingame.

Animal #1: Near threatened
Animal #2: Least concern

Animal #1: Population of about 15,000 wild
Animal #2: Occurs only in one American state
