What is the Metriorhynchus coded from and is it supposed to go on land?

We know pretty much nothing about how Metriorhynchus reproduced, no fossils indicate that it produced live young, like Ichthyosaurs, & no Metriorhynchus eggs or nests have been found either.
The Crocodylia crocs- The swimming animations work really well. No, it's not supposed to go on land. Recent research suggests that they were too well-adapted to living in water to be able to move about when out of water. As well, research on their pelvic girdles may suggest that they were viviparous.
IIRC true viviparity is impossible inside the crown archosauria for developmental reasons, although they may get a way to circumvent it with cloacal pouches or something, we just don't know.

The design of both creatures is pretty stellar though, carry on!

I'm aware of this, but there's always a way around it- Ovoviviparity, for example. And thanks!

Also, the bugfixing turned out to be too much of a hassle, so I caved and made it able to go on land in the interest of not breaking the game. Expect a release soon.

No good hero is a one-trick phony.

Just curious... why not rig it to one of the many totally water-based animations available? I'm not a huge fan of the crocodylia swimming animations(they are good though, all things considered), but that's not necessarily why I'm asking. I just think there are animations that could suit your purpose without making the thing go on land.

  • Because really, the only decent-looking animation sets are sharks and ambient fish.
  • Because the typical shark animations are WAY overused.
  • Because the ambient fish coding is behaviourally bereft.
  • Because the shark coding doesn't including parenting skills.
  • Because Metriorhynchus has very leggy hind flippers that don't fit the shark skeleton.
  • Because it looks good and works well.

Still manage to amaze me with everything you do! The Metriorhynchus looks awesome as does your Smilodon!

I do hope you proceed to do more Marine Reptiles, I'd love to see your artistic touch on some ichthyosaurs like your old pack... but all thats up to you of course

Understandable, have a good day.

Sorry if that came off a little rude.

Anyway: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0a68WhEJhKAOU9wdWo0N05QTlU

The Metriorhynchus is RELEASED and pretty much bugless. I'm not sure if it breeds, though- I did get it to do that once, and the babies worked perfectly, but I haven't been able to do so since. Let me know if you have problems with it.

That looks like something from another planet. Is so weird to think those things actually existed at some point. Did they have hair though?

EDIT: that was my way of saying i like it btw xD
