Does it need Hendrix Marine Iguana to work?
Yes, it does.

Is it a dinosaur or a lizard that is the question?

That is indeed the question, isn't it?

The texture appears to have overlapping scales so it can't possibly be a dinosaur. It has to be some sort of Squamate.

I honestly don't know how you can tell... They look about the same to me, especially as a 2D texture.

It was mostly an inference based on similar they look to reptile scales that do in fact overlap. And looking closely at this texture it appears that the larger scales, especially the top right ones, have corners that partially cover other scales.

The easy guess is Diplodocus, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was completely wrong.

Well, you're not completely wrong. I DID use lizard scales for the texture, and they DO overlap, especially on the chest and arms (not visible here.) HOWEVER, I think it's probably safe to say that not all dinosaurs had exactly the same type of scale- with such a big and diverse group, I would expect there to be some variation in scale type. After all, many lizards sport a mix of overlapping and non-overlapping scales, and crocodile tail scutes look like they overlap a bit.

I know what it is, it's made by Acinonyx Jubatus, so it's something awesome.

Sauropod skin fossils and fossilized impressions say otherwise. Pebble-like scales, standard dinosaurian polygonal mosaics on the body, varied scutes and osteoderms on top of the body and IIRC even spike-like protrusions on the feet. I've yet to find evidence for overlapping strictly squamate-like scale pattern in Dinosauria.

That's true, and I'm aware of all of these. That said, I've never been able to find photos of actual, living, non-avian dinosaur scales with which to texture my beasties, so I had to settle for lizards. It looks good, isn't outside the realm of possibility and is hardly noticeable anyway.

Well, I am 100% sure this is some blue modern-day lizard. Great work, it already looks well done. (even though I was hoping it will be Shringasaurus instead)

If it is indeed a Sauropod then I have been waiting for so long to see one done in your artistic way since the Apatosaurus you started to make many moons ago

Deff looking forward to seeing the reveal!
