I don't normally post in these topics, but I just wanted to say how after all this time these heated discussions just make me shake my head and laugh. I mean it's ridiculous. We're getting all upset posting on some website with people we don't even know for a decade old game? I've seen the community all the way back to pre-tesara days and what I've learned is that even after all that time we still haven't learned a damn thing about how to go about our business here harmoniously. True, there are different members now but people are people I guess and that will never change regardless of what the site looks like or is called.

Yeah I like a bit of drama every so often as it makes the place feel more alive, but I don't understand how people can get so affected by something that doesn't really directly affect your life. But that's how people are and I just find it bizarre. You might then think of cyberbulling and its problems and sure it happens, people care what others think too much. My point is that I find it strange how people get so involved in something this superficial. I got more important things to worry about than what someone, who lives on the other side of the world and who I've never met nor never will meet, thinks of me.

People, you need to calm down, seriously, some of the ideas coming out here are obscene. I know a good deal of the staff team personally now, they are all friendly and respectable people. They aren't trying to do anything to upset or hurt. It seems merely a misjudgement of people's possible reactions. This is an Internet forum. For a game which is a decade old. Is it such a big deal?

Not only that, but the people who organised the DinoDating prank were actually involved with the creation of this forum where so many of you seem to be happy. I think a small mistake on their half is more than forgivable, especially considering it was meant as entertainment, rather than to start arguments.

IDK if events are what ticked everyone off in the first place but I have a suggestion.

I think we should take two days every three months and consider day one a Staff appreciation day and the other being a member appreciation day. Since we all support each other, why not commend ourselves for cooperating well and keeping this community alive.

My other suggestion is which ever individual did wrong by another or had a misunderstanding should apologize, agree to disagree, or some kind of deal so that we can go on and be peaceful. Last I checked there were no (metaphorical or physical) swords, axes, or arrow being thrown/shot around the round table.

I'll post here again because I guess with all the snowball crap no one is really looking at the big picture.

Forget the festival, (No one ever said we thought your efforts were pointless and all of that, btw) forget the god damn humposaurus, forget some people thinking there's too many staff silhouettes (this one I never really cared about tbh)
Forget Dino-Dating, forget the bias, and forget everything this foolish argument turned into.

I reiterate my main point, which encompasses all of these issues, but is not nearly as obnoxious and attacking.

The staff should have to abide by the rules just like everyone else. After all, "we're all equal here."

That was my point from the start, and that remains as really the only thing I cared about out of this whole thing. So in case you're wondering, that is why people are upset- because of corruption. Unfair discipline is one, among other things. (Some new, young, or just foolish members break simple rules such as the all-caps, >3 word post, and double post rule.) Others, present and former members of the staff team, break these rules with great frequency, and often no reprimand is given.
I can give you countless examples of this crap, but I'm not the guy to start pointing fingers and posting names, that's just douchey.

But what a majority of the stuff people don't like about here (I use the multiple people because it's clear from the other topics others do agree) is all centered around bias.
Look, I get you'll have bias. I do. However, as members of the staff team, you could at least try and make itlook like you weren't consistently biased.

I hope you've all understood my viewpoint, this time.

Ex Corrupt Staff

What i found funny is that when we "punish" one side then they complain that we are biased; when we punish the other side then they complain that we are biased. So basically who ever gets punish for breaking the rules complain that we are biased. Is even funny if have to think about it. But is also frustrating.

You get to hear only one side of the conflict. You don't know if the other part was punished or not. Once again, members that are friends of the staff (or even were staff) got punished as well, but apparently you either ignore that or choose to ignore it so we look as biased and corrupt.

I think we can work on improve the actions of the staff. As staff members we should think before taking action and realize before hand if they are going to break any rule. But we are also humans as Josh and Susan pointed out; some times we act with a hot head and jump on a discussion because we feel the need to defend our point of view. That will lead to some unintended rule breaking for sure, but i can assure you that no one in the staff thinks they can act with impunity.

I think it's pretty clear by now that not everyone sees their time spent online (here or elsewhere) as something that "doesn't matter" compared to what's going on in their real lives. While I don't always understand the complaints nor am I always able to relate to them, I can respect that to someone else, they're important. I'm not going to dismiss what upsets someone else simply because it doesn't upset me. That doesn't mean we need to ignore what upsets other forum members, or even walk on eggshells to avoid upsetting them in the future... but don't dismiss their concerns out-of-hand by trivializing them. Many of the forum members here are very young and don't have the life experience that the older members do to put things in context.

Short version: I don't have to understand your complaint or the source of your distress to acknowledge that, for you, it exists and needs to be addressed in a constructive, inclusive way.

And Susan... I'm glad you posted that here. It needed to be said, and the staff staying mum on the subject helps no one.

I think at this point some of the sillier upset still needs to be discussed, but forum members need to be willing to let some things go or recognize that they might have been over-reacting to or misreading the intentions of staff with things like danny's fake account, the festival-disguised-as-a-site-hack, etc.

This whole thing goes both ways. We can't expect the staff to capitulate to every complaint or demand while refusing to adjust our own behavior for the benefit of the site and wider community.

AGA, you are right. I forgot to add that to my post. Thanks (:
I'll edit it now, and we will make a post in the Discussion Topic so you guys can let us know how you think we could best be held accountable for the rules.

forget the god damn humposaurus

Woah woah woah, the hell is wrong with you? :catz:
What's wrong with you?
Oh ho ho, you wanna duke it out with a Humposaur?
Let's do it, sunshine. :catz:
Nahh, I don't want to look like a total idiot with a Humposaur :doge:
Fine then. I'll just take all the idiocy with me.
Good day to you, sir. :catz:
As for you, Narukota. Could you please actually contribute to the topic or not post here at all? If you haven't noticed, being a total bumbling fool isn't helping anything and you're just being bothersome to something of actual importance.

As I was about to say before it was deleted, I'm more than willing to let this all go if it will spark a change, I admit my behavior was far, far less than my best. I was rather immature and let my anger get ahead of me and acted out of place. However, I'm glad I posted this because I at least reflected on all that just happened so quickly. I hope we can try and work things out? I agree both sides need a change.

I've read every post in this topic so far. I think this discussion is stupid. Don't we all know that the staff does their best to make this site great? Don't we know that were all sort of over exaggerating? But yes, I do agree with some people being biased...

Call me stupid if what im saying doesn't make any sense! I'm just an 11 year old that doesn't know anything.

But anyways, Aladeen it's sad to see you leave. Do well in life :)

I will miss you. *salutes*

It's a game people. A child's game at that. There are a lot more important things in the world to get upset about. So some people are abusing their power on a forum? Hardly headline news. Look at your own governments, look at the sate of the world, get angry with that instead.
I'd hope that this forum would be about uniting people with an interest in conservation and wildlife (and gaming) and fostering that so that maybe people will do something to help out in the real world. Zoo Tycoon is incredibly educational, especially for the younger guys and girls who play it, I mean I'm a 22 year old biology student and I still find species and facts that I didn't know about just by scrolling through posts and topics and reading the Zoopedia entries. It has actually helped nurture my passion for the natural world by engaging me far more than most text books ever could.

Maybe the staff need to ease up and allow people to express their concerns and opinions in public viewvand maybe everyone needs to stop bitching all the time and be thankful that they have access to a computer and time to spend hours on a game while millions live on the knife edge.
I think the designers and staff are all great, they're helping to keep this game fresh and keep this forum interesting but there is never any excuse for arrogance, yes you have power to change a website, yes you're a brilliant graphical artist but that doesn't make you any better than the majority of people on here. And as for the people who moan at the staff and designers over little things, get over it and get a life... even better, realise that everyone else who comes on here has a real life and are real people, not some God that can churn out new animals at your whim.
Cheers ;)
