I went for the Puffin, we're an island nation, having a sea bird as our national bird makes sense ;). http://www.votenationalbird.com/ |

I dunno, puffins seem more like an Icelandic creature. I'd have picked golden eagles because they're big, majestic, powerful and often found in heraldry. Problem is that it's taken. By at least 5 countries officially, and many more unofficially (one of which Scotland, and that's all that matters). And of course they aren't a vote option. For me it's gonna have to be the Barn Owl. The robin's fine as well, but apparently that needs replacing, which I don't quite understand because it's fine as is. I'd have picked Red Kite (one of my favourite birds), but that seems like it'd be a more Wales-exclusive national bird thinking about it. As long as they don't make it the god damn wren because that' already an England-exclusive. I'm not trading in my eagles for that. But something about barn owls sits right with me, being all "British countryside" without being as mundane as a blackbird (or as sociopathic as a Great or Blue Tit). And they're everywhere. Like the Brits. |

I'd vote Kingfisher, but only because Wood Pigeon isn't an option. |

Eagles are so overdone I feel like the Red Kite would be amazing! Of course I don't live there and don't know too much about it all, but still... Red Kite. |

Haha, yeah wood pigeons do remind me of home a lot, there is always one outside my window if I'm trying to concentrate on something. Without fail.
