Something else I've made and I've only just got around to skinning it, which I think has turning out quite well so far,

The model I used was the wild china Demoiselle crane, so credit to the ABC Team.

It may also look familiar to those who have been keeping track of Whalebite's topics

That one uses the same model.

I suspected/hoped you were doing one of these the moment I saw your name among the credits :P
Very nice work, I've been needing one for ages. I think the beak should be longer tho.

That looks awesome, dude, only thing I can think of is, that it looks a bit blurry (as well as the sheep) so add a bit texture ;) You know how to do it?

Beautiful bird. The good old great blue heron caused a stir around our house many years ago. My mother came running into the house claiming Rodan was outside and about as big as my younger sister. By the time we went outside there were, of course, no pterodactyls in sight. The next day however I saw what was unmistakably an adult great blue heron, crest and all. There was just one problem it was brown instead of blue gray. I had seen dozens of these birds before and it was colored almost like a juvenile but crested like an adult. I could only decide that it had Erythrism or a similar mutation. Still think it was hilarious that my mom thought it was a pterosaur but maybe this explains some cryptid sightings?

Anyway great bird, I can't wait to have it in my game.

I've updated the herons model (beak and the head feathers made longer and the plume alpha moved up) and done more work to it's skin (now has eyes, leg texture recycled from the Wild China crane and added alphas).

One of my favourite works of yours, it definately looks like the ones I meet so often around here.
Quick question, idr if the WC crane uses the tree nest, so does the heron use it ? IIRC they nest on trees, so it wouldbe a nice touch IMO.

I know the tragopan does, but I don't think the crane does, maybe (if the crane doesn't) I could use the tree nest code from the tragopan.

Please tell me its a harmless fish eater...

You have no idea how long I have wanted a great blue heron. It is beautiful both in skin and model. I think this is one of the very few rare occurrences where I cried when I looked at a download.

Well Grey Herons do eat a variety of animals. Other than fish fish, they eat amphibians, young water birds, including ducklings, water insects and small mammals, including rats, water voles and even young rabbits. Although this bird isn't that dangerous.
