St. Helena Giant Earwig? |

We have a winner. The Saint Helena Earwig or Saint Helena Giant Earwig, Labidura herculeana, is, or rather, was the largest species of earwig, endemic to Saint Helena. Although the last live specimen was sighted in 1967, it wasn't until 2014 that the species was official declared extinct. ![]() ![]() Any idea what main biome and diet is most suitable for this species? Currently it's Mediterranean Scrub, and it's diet is based on the only other Labidura species, L. riparia, which eats other insects. Edited by Ulquiorra, Aug 27 2017, 04:04 PM.

A big "wow"! You made great things and are making greater, more awesome insects! Thanks a lot for all you've done The biome seems to be right, and diet - insectivorous, maybe ovivorous (insect eggs).

Bless you forever Ulquiorra! About time we had more invertebrates(terrestrial or otherwise) in the game that aren't ambients or live food. So far we have scorpions, spiders, cockroaches, a Goliath beetle, butterflies, dragonflies, slugs and a stick insect. You are currently making a mantis, a waterbug, a millipede, a scolopendra, a cricket and an earwig. Forgive me if I sound rude and annoying, but could you please one day make the following animals as well? Thank you if you do. Grasshopper ![]() Ladybug ![]() Dung beetle ![]() Rhinoceros beetle ![]() Honey bee ![]() Wasp ![]() Ant ![]() Fly ![]() Tarantula ![]() Snail ![]() With all of these animals made we can finally have an awesome um... insectarium(?) in our ZT2 game. Is insectarium the correct term considering it also has arachnids, myriapods and molluscs(snails/slugs)? Anyway, thank you for making all of these awesome and amazing animals. He already made a Honey Bee (as an ambient), however I think some of the stuff you suggested would be too small to be functional ingame.

I meant make a honey bee as a non-ambient animal. As for the small ones, well... um... his cockroaches are also very small, yet they are functional in-game. Ulquiorra could choose the bigger species of the animals I suggested. Or make them bigger and after finishing them, scale them down to a more accurate proportion. Sort of like the opposite for Aurora Designs/Radical Remake's animals- they are smaller than what they should be, but any noob (no offense to anyone) could change their size using Notepad. I am guessing you refer to the ladybug and the fly... Oh well, that's 2 animals off my list. (sniff) Someone already made a statue of an ant for ZT2 in a Halloween pack. Just rig it with the birdeater spider's animations, code it (biome, price, zoopedia, conservation, food, shelter, enrichment and so on), and hey presto- instant ant! And for the snail- use Serpy's slugs, but give it the proper skin/mesh and (of course) a shell. I should check the Download Library again to see what invertebrates we have so far. Any sort of modern ant would likely be too small to work in ZT2... that said, Titanomyrma gigantea, the extinct giant ant, might work. Those things were as big as hummingbirds! One problem I see is replicating a working colony. Males would have to be drones, and all the females would be workers I suppose... we'd have to live with workers doing the breeding and pretending it was the queen in her anthill that makes them. And about anthills, maybe create a shelter resembling an anthill that can hold an unlimited number of animals, that would cause the ants to disappear whenever they went into it? If only it could double as a nest for eggs, that would work even better. Also... I agree with the need of Rhinoceros Beetles! Something really big... like a Hercules Beetle! Am I the only person who kinda likes earwigs? They're pretty bad-ass. I would say basing it on other earwigs is the best bet, if it was so elusive in life! |
