My baby Betta - growing up!

So about 8 months ago I went to our local pet store to buy some feeder crickets for my gecko. As I was walking to grab them I spotted tiny fish in plastic containers. My first thought was "Oh holy crap, someone bred dwarf bettas!". Then my brain kicked in and I realised that they were actually baby fighting fish (which I've never seen before or since in any pet shop in my part of Sydney), and I just couldn't resist. I ran to buy a tank, got home and set it up with water from my turtle tank, and then brought home my tiny fish. I picked the littlest one there (barely 2cm long), since he looked stunted and skinny and I loved his colour.

Since I brought him home and put him in a decent sized tank, full of plants (and a spongebob pineapple my boyfriend demanded I get) he's grown like a weed. He's now 8 months old, 4cms long and very good at building bubble nests. He gets along with his neon friends, though he does occasionally puff up at them. He has a string of nicknames instead of a proper name - Babyfish, Microfish and Fishy. Yep, I'm that creative. I love him :P.

Wow, I had no idea the babies were stripey! Your fish is adorable. This makes me want to get a Betta now.
