What have I done to the Topic? Well, you may be wondering, 'did Zoophobia do that?' , 'is that Immature?' , well... three words : I Screwed Up. Fortunately, I'm not letting that topic go, and since the time for me to post there again has rotted away, I've decided to reboot the topic. This time, not being a little immature brat. Basic Classifications : Winged Humanoids - Probably my most favorite class, Winged humanoids are beings/Animals that have wings, and also have a very familiar body shape Bigfoot - You know who. Oversized Animals - Animals that are oversized for a normal animal Animals - creatures that have the posture of animals around the world, that have different looks. Living fossils - Probably one of the most Stupidest classes I've ever heard of , they are just dinosaurs Aliens - creatures that seem otherworldly Hoaxes - Fun stories to tell in the dark |

Ooh, cryptids! (Not a cryptid) I clearly remember seeing an orca jump out of Lake Michigan. I saw the same thing twice- once in Indiana, once at the Shedd Aquarium. Probably an illusion, but I thought I'd share it. |

I believe the loch ness monster is a undiscovered large otter. Some mustelids do have long necks so maybe a otter playing and jumping out the water is what we see as a "neck". Also from seething the Sea otter, Amazonian River otter, and a few other species, we know otters get big. |

Seals also enter loch ness from time to time and some reports of the monster claim it having a dog-like head, seals have a dog-like face, so they could be responsible for some of the monster sightings aswell. Also sturgeon, not sure if sturgeon exist in the loch ness, but they do occasionally leap out of the water and reach large sizes, so I can see someone seeing a large sturgeon leaping from a distance and mistaking it for a neck or fin of some large unknown creature briefly breaking above the water surface. ![]() ![]()

In my opinion, the Loch Ness monster is just a combination of events - presence of large fish in the lake, seals and possibly huge eels, and maybe just weird waves. Of course, the local folklore would have exaggerated the sightings and legend, which led to what it is today. |

Wouldn't huge eels come under the same category as large fish? anyway, like you said anything can contribute to Nessie and other lake monster sightings, both natural and man made. Otters or seals swimming at the surface or boats, these cause bow waves and they can last awhile, because sometimes the waves are visible, but not the object that's caused them. Large fish leaping. Flock of birds either flying low over or floating on the loch, including cormorants, which could also explain long necked creatures. Floating objects, like logs. Rocks protruding above the surface. And of course hoaxes. Edited by Ulquiorra, Aug 14 2015, 09:20 AM.

Did you know the original 1930's Nessie sighting was confirmed to be a hoax by the photographer. |

Yes i agree , with Jules The Loch Ness Monster (For Me) is just a combination of event (Big Fishes , Seals or Otters , Even Elephant escaped from Circus) ... etc ... What do you guys think about the Elephant Theory about the First Picture of Nessie (1930) i think it's possible : ![]() |

It wasn't a elephant. If I am right the photographer used wood or a toy submarine for nessie Edited by Luca9108, Aug 15 2015, 07:20 AM.

Yes, that image was confirmed a hoax. Although I have heard about the escaped elephant theory aswell, and another elephant theory involving a group of elephants that someone from a circus had lead down to the loch for a morning wash.

I've heard that too, and it seem plausible, most of the people at thetime, probably never seen an elephant before,it was a mistaken identity. |

The problem with the elephant theory is kinda simple. Elephants would be noticed in Scotland, and when Elephants were in the lake, it'd only explain the minimal numbers of sightings that coincide with Elephants being in the Loch for whatever reason. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to defend the Loch Ness Monster, as far as Cryptids go it's one of the least plausible (in it's typical description) but the Elephant theory is pretty substandard and unconvincing |
