And what does that prove? To me, that just seems like one "sighting" (a perfectly reasonable one, too) blossomed into a whole community of hoaxes. |

Literally all of those sightings sounds like owls (or indeed cranes, hadn't thought of that one). Especially the one describing the sound, that's a fairly characteristic owl call across many species. |

1. The eyes of many owls are red. Also owls roost in trees so logically an owl is reasonable to explain this sighting. 2. As I said before the eyes of some owl species are red. And just because the dog disappeared doesn't mean "Mothman" ate it. Any hungry wild animal that's big enough probably would since the dog was alone. Also someone could have shot it or it got lost, and died from falling off a cliff or another natural cause or even got caught in a trap for all we know. It might have even gone feral. 3. Owls can look pretty humanoid and they are birds. If the sighting was at night like it sounds like it gives more reason for this sighting to be an owl. 4. Grey is a coloration you'd expect from an owl and really all the sightings you gave sound like owls. Edited by Guat, Aug 24 2015, 09:36 PM.

Who even says it died? He didn't find his dog, doesn't mean it was killed, maybe it just ran off and is living wild like the thousands of other feral dogs nation-wide |

I was under the implication that it did, sorry. However it could be that it went feral as well as you said. |

Or it could have just gone missing for a day, and not gone feral at all. Point is, that it's stupid to associate it's disappearance with some giant winged man. |

Reviving the Topic! i just saw a adorably weird "cryptid" on a youtube video. Someone took a picture of a foot long animal that looked like a mix of a Dolphin a Crocodile and an Ichthyosaur it was in a cave, can you tell me where it is and what it is called, so i can research it more. The quote marks mean that although its unidentified its almost undeniable. |

Link? There's no use trying to figure out it's name (Assuming it even has one, which I am willing to bet it doesn't) without any images. |

There is a image, a REALLY CLEAR IMAGE Clearest Cryptid Sighting i've seen, i typed in top 5 sea monsters and it was number 5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFXclm8KSz4 the Video, it resembles a young Ambulocetus more than anything. Edited by Cheshire Litten, Nov 7 2015, 06:53 PM.

You'll get some results by searching "harvey robertson sea cryptid" but its apparently fairly recent so good luck finding anything on it besides the same picture over and over in a news story. |

While this may well be an unknown animal, I very much doubt it's an Ambulocetus TBH.

I say this not because how much i love ambulocetus but because its head looks very similar, perhaps an animal that branched from the evolutionary tree at the same time as the Ambulocetuses other descendants. |

or just an edited/distorted photo of a cetacean, large, hairless, generally greyish animals well known for being spotted near the surface and for having blowholes. |

^This. Even if it does turn out to be a new animal, claiming it's in any way closely related to Ambulocetus is still being extremely speculative. |
