A piece of toast and a terminator.

Hmm... I'm not very sure about anything here, but there's quite a few for me. ;)

One of my favorites is, considering I'm pretty smart, people think I spend all of my free time studying or reading.

Let's be honest, most people think all paleontologists act and look like Robert Bakker;

About a week ago I saw someone who looked almost EXACTLY like Robert Bakker.

Is walkin' with a dead man.

There's a common thought that Swedish people, especally women, are good looking, slim, and blondie.
No, you're just thinking of us as exotic people, but it's OK, most white Swedes do it towards other people.

Swedish people only eat meatballs.
Nah, while good it's something I eat at a maximum once every second month.

All Swedes have tried surstömming.
NO. It smells like rotten poo, do you really think I wanna put it into my mouth?

The only acceptable car to drive is the Volvo, or sometimes the Saab.
While this IS false, my family have two Volvos XD

Swedes are great when it comes to inovating things, and are great with tecnology.
Not more than the rest of the world. Sure we might poop out a video game once in a while, but still.

I found some things about Dutch stereotypes on a website:

- They are all drug addicts. Just because weed is kind of legal in the Netherlands, it does not mean everyone is a drug addict.
- All Dutch are tall, blond and have blue eyes. While Dutch people are very tall averagely, not everyone is blond and blue-eyed.
- At least half the population is gay. I suppose not. This misconception originates from the fact that the Netherlands was the first country to legalise gay marriage. In Amsterdam we have an annual international boat parade, named the Gay Pride.
- The Dutch are greedy. Not that I am aware of.
- The Dutch wear wooden shoes. Dutch farmers used to wear these. Now it's just some rubbish story to lure tourists.
- All Dutch speak English. True. English education starts at a very young age in the Netherlands.
- Every Dutch shed keeps at least a dozen bicycles. Kind of true. There are more bikes than people in the Netherlands. The Dutch traffic system is adapted to cyclists, with cycling roads everywhere.

I can't speak for national stereotypes because I'm an American and that's nothing special, but:

Most Idaho Stereotypes
are very wrong. I live in Southern Idaho which is a farming community and the conservative stereotypes are only sometimes true. Southern Idahoans are mostly quiet, polite and pious LDS but terrible drivers.

Vegetarians are snobby/upfront about their eating habits
I only talk about my vegetarianism when someone's trying to feed me :)

and the one I unfortunately anticipate the most flak in response to:

Feminists are rude
Not true unless that's what you're looking for. If you purposefully look to be contrary or anger someone's stance, they won't be yielding in response.

Goths, they often get comments like these,

Satanists
Drug abusers
Depressed/suicidal/unhappy
Self harm
Cult members
Hate everyone
Vampires/ think they are vampires
Wear nothing but black
All metal-heads

I would consider myself goth, but am I any of the above things? No.

I don't worship satan.
I don't do drugs, unless you count drinking tea as a drug?
I'm not depressed or unhappy, well sometimes, but I think everyone has moments like this, and I'm certainly not suicidal.
Self harm, nope.
I'm not a cult member, do cults even still exist?
I don't hate everyone, although there are some people I dislike.
Vampire, I used to dress up as one, on halloween when I was younger, otherwise, no.
Black clothing, to some degree yes, my wardrobe consists of 90% black or grey clothing.
Am I a metal-head, no, I'm more interested in pop rock, than metal.

Old topic but still interesting...

Bisexual People.
-"We can't commit to anyone". I'm a very monogamous person, I like relationships and I can't imagine cheating on someone.
-"We have to pick a side eventually". Kind of true, if I get married I will be 'picking a side' based on the gender of my spouse but that doesn't mean I'm still not attracted to the other gender.
-"We're just confused". Yeah no, pretty sure I'm not confused about who I like.
-"Bisexual women in particular just experiment in college then go back to being straight". Again, I'm pretty sure I like who I like and if I get married I'll marry whoever I want.
-"Bisexual women who date men shouldn't date lesbians". This one is pretty much exclusive to a small section of the Gay Community, and while this can apply to men too I've noticed it's more common with lesbians. But basically bisexual women are seen as giving into The Patriarchy or whatever because ew men are gross. Again this is just a small part of the Gay Community that reacts this way but they're a lot louder than the more sensible voices.

People from Chicago
-"We're all violent". Chicago isn't even in the top ten US cities by homicide rate.
-"We take our sports games too seriously". This is true, after the Cubs won the World Series people were celebrating for days. And the Blackhawks are one of the best hockey teams in the NHL so you have to support them.
-"St. Paddy's Day is a big deal". Hell yeah it is, we even dye our river green.
-"Most Chicagoans are Irish/Polish/Italian/Ukrainian". Kinda true, a lot of people born in the area are from these groups. But there are other large Ethnic groups like Lithuanians, Palestinians, and Persians.

Oh and we're all Muslims: Well, ~95% of the population is but for example I'm not and there are a lot of Christians and some Jews as well.

Canadian Stereotypes:

We say Eh - nope. I find it annoying.

We all live in igloos - sorry global warming hit here hard

We have polar bears everywhere - only in the north. In some cities its illegal to lock your car just in case someone needs to escape from a hungry bear.

We all love hockey - not anymore. Canada is highly mixed with culture so many Canadians do not follow any hockey or even skate. I hate hockey -_-.

We all love maple syrup - yep... if you can afford it. Everything is Canada is quite costly. A good bottle can cost 20-40 dollars.

We all eat poutine and speak french - only in Quebec. Did you know almost every province hates Quebec xD. Its a messed up province. High tax and crazy rules. They tried to change Walmart's name as it does not translate into a french word? Who would not eat fries, gravy, cheese?!
I get bacon on mine mmmmm.

Canadians are mostly white - nope .. its crazy mix here especially in BC. In an hours drive you could swear you live in India, China and Russia. Not too many Muslims here though - the sikhs hate them. I have no idea why but they are constantly protesting against Muslim religion. The food is amazing. Lots of gang shootings due to turf wars. Its amazing people can afford to live here. To own a house downtown (even a shack falling over) is 1.2 million!!! Rent for a two br is around 1800 and a jug of milk is almost 9 bucks.

No good hero is a one-trick phony.

Lotta stereotypes about Christians. Such as we...
Are Bible-thumpers: Some, not all.
Hate LGBT people: The bad Christians, not most.
Are all white conservatives: Nope...
Are sexist: Some, not most. Some passages of the Bible can be construed as sexist if they're misunderstood or taken out of context, but they really aren't.
Are prudes/don't know how to have fun: Only the squares :P
Are ignorant/anti-science (especially anti-evolution): This is probably the most applicable, those views among Christians come from a lot of misunderstandings, but Christianity is not diametrically opposed to science. I am quite certain that evolution took place.

If there's one general stereotype, it's that Christians are ignorant and hateful. Unfortunately, this is true in some cases, but just like feminism for example, the craziest people are the loudest. Other than that, a lot of people don't seem to really understand what the religion is about. Of course, if any of you have been hurt by Christianity, I realize that's a legitimate issue and really am sorry.
