Well I have had the sabre-tooth for a while and the adults just died of old age while the babies are still stuck as juveniles. I am going to re-code them and remove the juvenile age to see if this can be fixed. on the bright side the wolves work great and here is the preview... Hokkado wolf ![]() Honshu Wolf ![]() Gifts ![]() I plan to release them this weekend if the wi-fi doesn't die again. I also decided to add another animal to the Flintstone pack. An old-fashioned retro Tyrannosaurus rex based on the old Invicta (Brittish Museum) toy from the 60s and 70s. The animal's texture is straight from the toy but colored similar to Zdenek Burian and Charles R. Knight. The gift is the invicta toy itself. Retro T. rex preview, I still need to tweak the skin and tail.

The T. rex looks like that creepy lizard in vintage postcards (as it should look like). The dinosaur is great, but the wolves (my precious wolves made ages ago, when meshing from scratch was a novelty to modding)are astonishing! My jaw dropped when I saw the remade wolves, really. You've made an enormous job in restoring that forgotten pack (and the wolves as well) to life and ZT2! Thanks so much! |

Thank you. The wolves were hard to do because the surviving mounts are so faded and somewhat distorted by the taxidermy methods of the time which tried to make wolves look as threatening as possible. This was especially noticeable in the Honshu wolf where the mounts are so flat-skulled and long snouted that they resemble cartoon coyotes more than contemporary pictures of the species. I based the base skin of the Hokkaido wolf on a really good photo of a tawny Indian wolf that had similar markings to those on the mount. Turned it greyscale. Then painted it the actual shade of the Japanese subspecies using this photo Hokkaido Wolf The Honshu wolf was based on this image of an animal photographed in the year 2000 that was declared genuine by Japanese scientists. Even if of hybrid decent rather than a pure surviving population this canid was apparently good enough to pass by the experts so it became my base skin and model. Honshu Wolf I am going to upload them to Zoo Tycoon Wildlife tonight. |

Wow. Thanks for info about the living long-time-ago-extinct Honshu wolf. Even if it is of wolf/domestic dog descent, it will be cool, that any wolf population hunts Japanese serows and other creatures down. What about remaking my elephant pack or American Ice Age cats? |

Here is a good article on the Honshu wolf photos http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2014/04/howls-in-the-night-one-mans-quest-for-the-japanese-wolf/ I don't have your cat or elephant packs. If you can you tell me where to find them I will see what i can do. |

Yeah, I know exactly what you feel. I was trying to make Hokkaido wolf month ago, but I dumped that project, as I was unable to find good reference (I had skin half done, but I couldn't find any good head photo), so I am even more happy because of you making these marvelous critters. For me- as a fan of recently extinct animals this mod is sth great, and I will sure use them a lot in my projects. |
