The Christmas Countdown has concluded and we hope you all had a great time. It was really rewarding for the staff who worked on the festival to see the members getting into the Christmas spirit, giving and receiving gifts and having fun with all the different games and contests. It was also great to see you guys having fun with the Christmas characters who appeared on the site in the past month.

But now, it's over so we're into 2016 and while at the moment we're mainly focused on cleaning up the festival and getting prizes added, we do have a few plans for potential events in the near future. From your feedback, it seems many of you would be interested in a large-scale contest, similar to the Marathon or Tournament of Builders contests. Because we have been focused on other things, we are yet to decide what this contest will be or how it will work, but it is likely at the moment that our next major event will be a contest of some sort, so stay tuned for further details in the future.

Even if that is still a little while away, we'll make sure to have a few small events and changes over the next month or so, including new additions into the Animal Market and Laboratory, a bunch of new contests and games and plenty of updates to the site. Make sure to look out for Australia Day (on January 26) as I might just have a surprise or two ready!

The following features were implemented within the last couple of months:
  • RTZI Changes: Posted Image A new RTZI-exclusive icon was added to the site at the end of November to be used for any RTZI zoos in the Zoos & Exhibits section. Simply add the icon when posting a topic or edit your first post to add it to an existing zoo thread! This icon was implemented along with a new logo for the RTZI, created by fridooh, and the promotion from Junior Managers to RTZI Managers for Burns and Kevin.

  • Theme Updates: In the last month, we've had two old themes, Snowflakes in the Sand and TRT Original, updated to fit our flat theme style, as well as a new theme, Candlelight, added for Christmas Eve. We hope you enjoy these themes and we promise more updates to come as we convert more of the older themes to our newer style.

  • The Laboratory: This month, we released the first purchase-able extinct animals for your profile zoos through the brand new Laboratory. Through the laboratory, members must collect all the fossil pieces of their desired extinct animal, donate towards its research, buy it and post daily to construct it properly. Currently, only two extinct animals are available, but many more will follow. Also, in relation to the profile zoos, the grey wolf was the first animal to be released that has variants available on purchase (appearing at random frequencies). In the future, most animals with variants will be released in this way.

Interviewed by: Flower

Hello Everyone, and welcome back to our monthly interview! This month we're interviewing Narukota/Buddy The Elf for his wonderful ENB series and other designs as a part of the NaroCorp Designs. So, let's a-go!

1. When and how did you first become involved in the ZT community?

After I've been playing ZT2 for a while since my 9th birthday, I kept looking at the Microsoft downloadable content like Addax, Musk Ox, etc. and noticed that Microsoft has stopped making new downloadable content. That's when I assumed that there may be some downloadable content online. I ran into a good lot of sites like ZTV, Gaia, NSkies, Tesara, Environ, and several others. I was always a lurker there until I later signed up for NSkies, Gaia, and the new TRT.

So here I am now, almost two years later. A modder for the community.

2. When did you start designing and what was your first project?

My first project started during the end of August after, and I quote from September 2nd, 2014, "I tried thinking of something to reskin/remake and I got the idea of making a Tundra reskin when I saw someone ask if there's a realistic Tundra reskin with snow in the Where Can I Find This Download thread."

So my first project was a reskin of the Tundra biome, using Sophie's Tundra reskin as a base template for it. Then I later progressed into bigger projects such as ENB.

3. How has the community changed you as a person? Have you allowed it to?

I can't really describe how it changed me, but yes, it has changed me a lot. TRT is literally my getaway place from the annoyances of life.

Of course, I developed an addiction to TRT and ZT2 that I ended up ignoring everything else such as my schoolwork.. in which i still need to catch up on.

4. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose to live?

Probably somewhere in Europe, such as Spain, for the romance or somewhere in Asia, such as Vietnam, for the food.

I can't decide. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ my heart just split into two places.

5. What are your favorite animals?

Rhinoceros because it's probably the coolest and most "prehistoric looking" animal we have today.

6. When did you develop your love for animals?

Are you seriously asking a meatlover that? c':

I developed an extreme love for animals since I was 4. I always read animal/dinosaur books and kept dreaming of being a zoologist or a paleontologist for years until reality hit me just now.

7. What do you want to be when you grow up?

Oh not you too. i get hit by that question almost every day of my life.

I'm not sure what I will major in, but as for right now, I'm taking classes for Webmaster so I can get a certificate (not a degree) in it. By the time I have that certificate, I'll probably have some ideas of what to major in. If I don't, no worries. At least I have a certificate so I can get a job in the webmaster field.

8. Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Night owl.

I hate mornings.

This is why I'm taking this interview at 1PM. I just woke up.

9. Want to share any sneak peeks of anything?

I guess I can tell you guys about the latest ReShade. :P ReShade has updated with several new effects and features.

Some of ReShade's new effects include:

-Daltonize: an effect for colorblind people, allowing them to see the colors they can't see. (probably never will be released due to the difficulty of it.)

-New DOF effect: Depth of Field which blurs out the background and focuses on the nearby objects. (will not be released anytime soon)

-New Ambient Occlusion effects: Creates shadows and lightings (may be released in the next ReShade update)

-Better Lensflares: Making that lensflares effects when you see the sun through a camera.

-Better Godrays: Making that shining rays of the sun.

...and several others that shall remain as a secret.

Other NaroCorp Designs projects will be Biome Reskins, which will be released possibly by the next week after Christmas, and back to good old ENB because simple is awesome, amirite?

It's gonna be a big year for NaroCorp Designs 2016!

Thank you for giving me this Opportunity, Narukota. It was a wonderful time interviewing you. Though I would definitely suggest you not to wake up at 1 PM. And we will not forget to keep an eye on your projects topic. See ya!

Hello everyone! Welcome back to our community news section. This year has been an eventful, yet an exciting one. The staff has worked hard to bring us a date with dinos, a cool carnival, and a captivating Christmas.

Posted Image

The High Tide carnival is one of the more recent events we’ve had. The staff surprised us with an amazing ocean themed festival. There were fun games, literature contests, and team competitions. Some of the teams also provided a few terrific oceanic downloads for the site to enjoy. New pointy animals were also added to the market. If you’d like to relive the moments of carnival fun, you can visit the Memory box.

Posted Image

As per the norm, we also had a pretty cool Christmas celebration. The staff again pulled through as we counted down to the holidays. Members helped Santa find his mischievous, missing reindeer, as well as a few golden rings. Grinch and Scrooge teamed up with miserly conduct to ruin Christmas, but Santa and his elves triumphed in the end. A few members however, would have rather have had the Grinch take over this year. Some of the more adventurous folks tried to pull off an all-nighter in the Christmas Eve hangout. The festival ended with good will towards the people who made it all possible, with everyone in the holiday spirit.

Posted Image

TRT wasn’t the only site celebrating the holidays. Feral kicked off Christmas with two song spinoffs, Jingle Roar and the 12 days of downloads! If you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely go over and check it out.

On the day of New Year, our wonderful and hard-working Admin Zebrasorus added a new theme which is to take over the classic Round Table theme. It looks more edgy and geometric giving it a more professional touch. A big round of applause for her! (PS: The Candlelight theme is equally good, if you aren't a fan of light themes, that one is the perfect for you!) You can select the themes from the dropdown menu at the bottom left corner of the board.
Overall, it’s been a very good year at the Round Table, and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to many more! Happy New Year, everyone!

Genus:Mustela
Species: Mustela erminea

Range:
Posted Image
Stoats are found in the Northern regions of North America and Eurasia. Feral stoats exist in New Zealand.

General:
Stoats are small abundant weasels with a wide range. Often known as ermines, the stoats’ brown is replaced by a white coat in the winter. Stoats are efficient and athletic predators capable of hunting in all conditions including swimming, digging, and climbing. There are currently 37 subspecies of stoat. They are closely related to other weasels such as the mountain weasel and least weasel, distinguished by their black tail tip. They are mainly solitary creatures but they are not fiercely territorial and many stoats can be found in small areas.

Habitat:
Stoats are found in almost all of Canada and Alaska and the northern parts of the United States. In Eurasia, Stoats inhabit almost all of Russia and Northern Europe, with populations present in Japan, China, Greenland, and New Zealand. They are able to occupy a variety of habitats including highlands, forests, and moors. Anywhere with a sufficient population of small mammals and cover is a prime habitat.

Diet:
Stoats prey mainly on rodents but unlike some of their smaller cousins, Stoats are able to take on larger prey. Diet varies from location to location, but most often stoats feed on rabbits and other lagomorphs,, squirrels, voles, rats, mice, and hamsters. They are also known to feed on non-mammalian prey such as small birds, reptiles, and amphibians. On New Zealand stoats unfortunately feed on a wide array of flightless birds. Stoats are known for practicing surplus killing, which contributes to their adaptability and their survival.

Threats:
Fortunately, there are no significant threats to the stoat’s survival. In times past stoats have been threatened by the fur trade, specifically in the Soviet Union, but other animals such as minks are more commonly hunted for their fur. Local populations can experience decline due to the poisoning of rodents upon which they feed, but do to their extremely large and variable range the stoat is not in any peril.
However, the stoat has been responsible for the perils of many species on New Zealand.

Weight & Length:
Male stoats are usually larger than females. Populations and subspecies vary.
Length: Males measure 10-16 inches/ 25-40 centimeters. Females measure 8-14 inches/ 20-35 centimeters.
Weight: Males weigh about 9 ounces/ 260 grams while females weigh about 6 ounces/ 180 grams.

ZT2 Animal Guidelines:
Stoats are not commonly kept in zoos but they are easy captives. A stoat exhibit should be about 10x10 feet, or roughly 3x3 meters, to give the animals sufficient space to move around. Large boulders and stumps can be added, as stoats climb and explore their surroundings looking for prey in the wild. Small shrubs and plants should be added to give the stoats cover to retreat to, but they may dig their own burrows. In a small exhibit most trees will not fit, and stoats can climb. They can be kept either indoors or outdoors, as long as they cannot dig out of of climb out of their enclosure. It is advisable to give stoats artificial areas to dig if they cannot do so adequately in their exhibit’s substrate. Stoats are extremely flexible and can “weasel out” of pretty much any mesh that has holes larger than a square inch. As such, glass walls or extremely fine mesh are better options.
Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a stoat made in game yet. Several other species of the genus Mustela have been added, however, and most of these guidelines will work just the same for them.

Pointies Animal:

You can get the stoat in our Animal Market. The color of the Stoat's fur will automatically change depending on the season - you need not make any specifications.

Interviewed by: Flower

One word is a new addition to our monthly newsletter. We asked 20 people what they think of the word 'Family'. These are their responses.

To me, family means safety, love, acceptance and fun. My parents never make me doubt that they care for each other and for me or my siblings, and they have always tried to create a home that is safe for us to be who we are, to follow our dreams and to have fun. They definitely believe fun is important, and we often play board games or card games together and sometimes have game nights to win some silly prize at the end. Sometimes, family can be tough, annoying, frustrating... my family never seems to want to leave me alone. But not everyone's perfect and I'm lucky to have a family that loves me enough to care about what I'm doing and where my life is at. ~ Danny

People that are very close to each other, either by caring for each other or being related. ~ Grinch Jr.

Family for me are the people who simply love you for who you are, for who you have been and for who you will be. ~ Iben

The word family invokes feelings of warmth, love, and trust. Family is kind of like circle including cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, siblings, and/or parents. ~ Humuhumu

Ohana. Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind. ~Narukota

When I hear the word 'Family' I immediately think of the vacations I have every other year with my Mother's Family. She has a lot of brothers and sisters and so it always is a lot of fun to see them again after so much time. Every time I see my family, I feel connected with them, we all have the same sort of characteristics which I can't really place, but I think the bond will last forever. ~ Zooza

The people I feel closer to me, that support me and the ones I love to share my special moments with. ~ Furka

That might not be a very good question to ask me, but I'll try to give a politically correct answer.
Family is like a tree, it consists of branches that all grow their own direction, yet their roots remain as one. ~ Kevin

A sense of warmth and belonging, those you can trust and run to when there is no one else. :) ~ Azrael

In the technical sense, family means your relatives, but I think it is more than that. I believe the people who are your closest friends, and stick around you in the good and bad, can be considered family. ~ Rebbie

A group on individuals who work together to help each other. ~ Burns

Family for me is a group of persons which is really close to me . It can be friend (as some TRT members) , real ''family'' member or other. But the all mean a lot for me

When I hear/see ''family'' , I immediately think of all the good/bad (Depends) events we passed with this ''Group''. ~ Zoo Tycooner FR

Family: Someone who will look out for you, someone you can always trust, someone who will always be there for you. ~ Fluffs

If I were to describe "Family" in one word, that word would be "Blessing." My family, both blood and honorary, are just that- a blessing from God. Family loves you, supports you, and strives to help you in whatever problem you may be facing at the time. Family never gives up on you and never abandons you. ~ Acinonyx Jubatus

I think people that are genetically related to me, whether or not I like them or live near them. ~ stargatedalek

For me family definitely means overcoming people's differences and coming together as one. My family is kind of a mess but at the end of the day everyone genuinely does care for one another, and that's what is most important. ~ Admiral General Grinch

Family to me is a divided concept. There are a lot of issues in my biological family, and the word itself can remind me of those problems and negative emotions. However, in more recent years I've come to find a different family - the people that love and care about me no matter what, even though they don't have to. Quite a few of them are on this site even. So if you ask me, those people are my real family, and that family fills my life with meaning and the most happiness I've ever experienced. ~ Zebrasorus

In short Family = love. Unconditional love without judgment for the people you care for most in this world.
Family is not just a Mom or dad - but a selection of a group of people that you love flawlessly. A family can be just two or fifty.

Family means love and being there to help mentally, emotionally, and physically. ~ Rezcall

Well for me the word "family" means being surrendered by the people you care and love the most, the people you will do anything for them to be happy. ~ Francis

People I constantly have to be with, but who I still (sometimes) love. ~ Gibbonnom

The people that matter most, so pretty much Anton and Kevin. ~ Fireplume

To me 'Family' is both an entity and a feeling - both dependent on each other. It is the feeling of closeness, the trust, the comfort, the way you talk to them informally and have petty quarrels and laughs - they're all wonderful feelings which builds up this unit - the family. If you have no one to call family, then these feelings are nonexistent. Such a thing is a family, to me. ~ Flower

A man delved his foot into the soft, deep snow, and pushed off in an attempt to move the sled wedged in the slush. The brawny dogs attached to the vehicle pulled and strained to dislodge the sleigh from its cold embrace. The man grunted; the beasts barked as they made their best effort to get back on the road. Finally, push gave to shove, and the team successfully put the sled back on to the small path, barely seen through the snow.
The experienced musher went over and inspected his animals. First he went over the lead dog, a sturdy husky with silver fur. The man then went over the wheelers, the dogs that were especially important for going around corners. He caressed each of his dogs’ paws, and rubbed them to increase their warmth. The musher grabbed his lantern and looked down the road packed down by sled teams that had gone before. The visibility was impaired by the heavy snowfall. The man looked to the heavens. “Darkness,” he muttered, “I’ve never seen the likes of it before.”
The musher brushed his clothes with his fur gloves. He needed to get the supplies to the village soon. They could not wait until morning; they would have to make it tonight. His lantern wouldn’t last forever, and the impregnable darkness would soon halt his endeavors. “But I must try. My dogs have traveled this path many a time…I will just have to trust them.” he whispered between breaths.
The man climbed on to the wooden transport, and grasped the handle. “Hike!” he yelled. The huskies knew the signal and started plodding through the snow. The musher pushed with his foot to help the team get along its way. The occasional tree or turn forced the man to shout a “gee” or “haw”, but the way was relatively straight.
They were making a decent pace, but he knew there were still many miles ahead of them. He also knew the lantern would soon give way, and this darkness would make traveling nearly impossible. The bleak snowfall had started to dissipate, and now the sky could be seen clearly. The stars were dim, the moon was nowhere in sight. The man sighed, “Truly, this has to be the darkest night I have seen this year.”
The faithful beasts trudged their way through the deep, white mire. A low light flickered over their glistening bodies, and then went out. “Whoa!” the musher commanded. The dogs halted, the sled came to a stop. “We’re through.” the man sighed. However, when the lowest point seemed to reach them, fate must have smiled upon the team. A colorful beam appeared in the heavens, lighting up the abyss of darkness. “Good Lord! The northern lights!” the man laughed. They would make it now, the light was sufficient to continue. The team was accompanied by the glowing spectrum until the destination was reached. The darkest night had become the brightest one.

Name: Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Developer: Ubisoft Quebec
Release date: October 23, 2015 (Console) November 19, 2015 ( PC )
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows

Review:
Another year, another Assassin's Creed game! Every year the Assassin's Creed franchise brings us a large, historical, beautiful open world to let us roam around in, and this may be the best one yet. Unlike last year's horrid Assassin's Creed Unity, with it's bugs and glitches, Syndicate runs very well whether it's on your PC or Console. The Victorian London setting is absolutely beautiful! Everything from the high-class mansions, to the urban slums are highly detailed.

What's different from the rest of the Assassin's Creed games is now you can harness the power of your own gang, the Rooks! When you're not sneaking and spying about, be sure to take on the Blighters, the gang run by Templars head on, to really show them a message.

The game feature two protagonists twins, Jacob and Evie Frye, who venture out to London to take back London from the corrupt Templars. The story is pretty decent, except for the terrible boss battle at the end of the game with Crawford Starrick. I give this game a 4/5 stars.

1. Join the Newsletter Team! All the above posts were written this month, and next month you could be one of the writers! Post in the Staff PM Box and tell us what you would like to do, and we'll get you into something.
2. Report stuff. If you see something that is against the site rules, then just click that little report button so that we can see it ASAP. We can't be everywhere at once, so the sooner you let us know about it the better
3. Assist. If you see someone who needs help, has a question, or isn't following the rules, kindly help them out if you can. Often times a staff will still follow up behind you, but we always appreciate seeing members helping each other out.
4. Be active. The more you post, and make topics, the more others can post and that will open more doors for you to post!
5. Be friendly. PM people, welcome people, and be patient with everyone, especially newer members. Remember, if you're kind to people, its very likely they'll be kind to you
6. Submit Downloads. We have a nice download center so we mine as well get as many downloads as we can in it. We also have good download managers, so we had mine as well keep them busy too
