I remember when I was playing through all campaigns, there was one medium difficulty campaign where one of the conditions was "not have any animal die from illness or attacked by another animal", that's pretty easy to achieve so I took it as a given.
As anyone who has played campaigns would know, you are often short of money so it's a common practice to mix as much cheap animals as you can in a single enclosure (often with cliffs as fences since it's free) to boost the zoo fame. At the end of the campaign I was struggling with reaching the zoo fame, so I thought it would be a good idea to make an enclosure with some cheap animals, and I mixed flamingos with protarchaeopteryx since they seemed roughly the same size, and you can keep predator and prey if the carnivores are well fed & happy, so I though there wouldn't be issues. A few minutes later I got a message and was sure I had won the campaign - no, a protarchaeopteryx had killed a flamingo for no reason, thus I lost the campaign with no option other than start over again (I hadn't saved because I was sure it would be easy to complete).
I didn't play it again until months later...

Pull my finger!

I work for a few hours on a map only for it to become stupidly unusable.

I always get frustrated when you do all this hard work on your zoo, and then it crashes. Like one time, I had built the entrance and asian small-clawed otter enclosure for Lane County Park Zoo. Then for some reason I didn't save it, but I was looking through scenery and I clicked on an arch. And then my game crashes because of it. I was MAD.

For anyone who's done small animal shelters, elevated paths are my eternal nightmare.

Having so many tables and food carts and the guests continue to complain about not having anywhere to sit, I get frustrated and have to close the game.

Game randomly crashing, whilst trying to complete the challenge that unlocks the cat climber. At the time I didn't have Internet access, so my game was all vaniolla content, and combined with my zoo designing skills, it was taking me forever to reach a 5-star zoo and obtain the florida panther.

Oh and playing in campaign mode and making the mistake of buying an expensive animal (mountain gorilla in my case) only for the zoo's money to turn red moments later.

There is no greater problem than this. Hands down.

Especially when making low-lying terrariums. Permanent ground distortion is a b***h.

I agree with this statement. I could throw my PC out of the window when this happens and it happens relatively often xD

Pick a god and pray!

One time I was playing challenge mode with mods, and I accepted a challenge. It was that I'd receive a cash grant if I could create 3 super animals of different species within a couple months. Obviously, I went right to it. I created the Jurassic Park Pack Ceratosaurus, the JFD Aurochs, and the Chased By Sea Monsters Cymbospondylus. Even though they were all supers, I failed the challenge and didn't receive the cash. :|

Agreed! And then when you have to fix it, but it requires you deleted everything around it and flattening the terrain. Then you have to replace it all.

Don't
Remind me
of those
horrible incidents

I once started doing a campaign that seemed easy, which was having some baby tortoises grow up, but then, after 3 hours of waiting, I realized that Collar's Mod's Placement hack was interfering with the babies, and so they couldn't grow up.
I'm glad the new version got rid of that.

Same here but it happens with rocks...

My Extinct Animals disc is scratched a bit so I get annoyed when the disc doesn't want to work when I want it to (installing, loading, etc.)
