For anyone who's done small animal shelters, elevated paths are my eternal nightmare.
There is no greater problem than this. Hands down.

Especially when making low-lying terrariums. Permanent ground distortion is a b***h.
That's why I switched from elevated paths to those square things Thom made. The only problem is that you need to edit all the stuff you want to place on it (not sure if doable with food) and we have like only two skins of it.
Otherwise I worked on a tutorial to make elevated terrariums some time ago, might be outdated but still worth a check ;)

What I hate the most is when animals that have been working fine ever since you had them suddenly go nuts. Like stopping using items, complaining about things they shouldn't, or just disappearing from your game.

Don't
Remind me
of those
horrible incidents

I once started doing a campaign that seemed easy, which was having some baby tortoises grow up, but then, after 3 hours of waiting, I realized that Collar's Mod's Placement hack was interfering with the babies, and so they couldn't grow up.
I'm glad the new version got rid of that.
The only problem with the new version is the plants and such all still have collision.

I always get frustrated when you do all this hard work on your zoo, and then it crashes. Like one time, I had built the entrance and asian small-clawed otter enclosure for Lane County Park Zoo. Then for some reason I didn't save it, but I was looking through scenery and I clicked on an arch. And then my game crashes because of it. I was MAD.
Same here but it happens with rocks...

My Extinct Animals disc is scratched a bit so I get annoyed when the disc doesn't want to work when I want it to (installing, loading, etc.)
I have had my game since like... A THOUSAND YEARS AGO. I got it back when I was little, like not long after it came out, if I can remember correctly we wanted to look at PC Games and we didn't find what I wanted, and I was ZT2 so we got it, and I still use the same disk today.

It used to do that on my old computer. Now that I reinstalled it and got my downloads back, I was allowed to go through foliage.

Another frustrating moment is when you take a real nice picture of your zoo...
only to realize that Santa is in the corner where you didn't see him. :implode:

Runtime Errors.

Made an extremely fancy hybrid structure, indoor desert house, with an indoor/outdoor exhibit for mongolian death worms I was really proud of at one end, and just as I was about to put the animals in and save, BAM!

[Insert Runtime Error Window]

[Insert the rage of ten thousand suns]

When zookeepers can't reach anything.
Wish there was a hack that the food and water are always full.

I got annoyed with the same thing. And sometimes you get to many animals to refill the food and water every two seconds.

Especially parakeets.
I swear... they eat everything up within two seconds.

When animals mysteriously stop drinking/eating, and you go to the exhibit to find 20+ bowls and food piles all over the place because the zookeepers are programmed to set them down when no food is available (even if the original food still is, sometimes)

When you're just trying to make a little pool of water and the water does that...triangle thing. You know what I'm talking about. That tiny blue triangle of water that floats in mid-air you can never get rid of. Or when one oblivious guest falls off an elevated path and into your peafowl exhibit (or something else ridiculous) only to start screaming and cause mass panic among all your equally stupid zoo patrons. Thank the almighty for collar's Open to World free roaming animal hack! :implode:

Cats killing each other. :catz:

I had a snow leopard exhibit and like a minute after the male cub had become an adult his father killed him. And then a couple weeks later I built an exhibit with a black leopard and a jaguar, but they were separated by rocks so they couldn't really interact. Not even ten seconds later I got a notification that the jaguar had been killed.

I was so upset, I was maybe seven when this happened. I refused to play the game for a month.
