Another small primate: lavasoa dwarf lemur

That´s kind of an experiment because I try to handpaint most parts of the skin. Photosourcing was the thing of my previous creations and I hope to improve with hand painting the skins. At least then I could make animals of which I can only find low quality pics so photosourcing isn´t an option - like the rare lavasoa dwarf lemur.

This is my (early) skin, making the seams of the body pattern fitting together and testing a first layer of texture. More texture, colour adjustments and shading will follow. Alphas missing. face parts and hands belong to the somalia galago by Tamara Hanson I used as base. I haven´t worked on them yet.

I think working on the mouse lemur model from RaulFVP (perhaps an edited form of it, although not necessarily if you don't know how to edit it) would work better for it, I like that you tried hand-painting for it though; it's audacious! :)

One think I've always loved about your creations is how you seem to chose the perfect species: interesting but yet still very needed ingame, especially the last primates you've shown are just amazing. Great job. :D

Handpainting is an option when not being able to find photo-references, but I would suggest to use photos, even when they're of a low quality.
It'll look way more realistic when you photosource most of the animal and overlay texture, than when painting.
Anyway, it's a good skin so far, but it can defenitely improve :)

Yes, I´m also not very happy with the model. The mouse lemur´s face is not pointy enough and the body too chubby. The somali galago I used has a too pointy face. :/

I downloaded some more lemurs and checked their files. I still can´t edit models so I have to use the most accurate model available. I thought about the model of Jannick´s golden bamboo lemur? Still not perfect but without the alphas and a less pointy face than the galago.

Hand-painting the texture is just a experiment but I think I can make it good enough for a release. At least itwill be a rather small animal ingame, perfect for a first try. :)

@Wes: Yes, I have to improve the skin highly for a release! I´m not in a hurry so I will see if hand-painting works good enough or if I use photos again. The problem with this dwarf lemurs is that I can´t find good pics even looking for different species...I will see how it turns out.

>Maybe try these<
Especially the 1st and 4th images are pretty decent
They might not all be of the same species, but they look very similar :)
The details can then be edited with painting

Looks good so far. I don't know if it's possible but if you could make them "longer" that would look nice and the ears should be smaller. Other than that they look really good, I'm really impressed with the skins. ;)

@Esser: Do you know a model which fits woolly monkeys?

@Burns: I can´t edit models so I can´t change the body shape. :S
I tried some available models and the mouse lemur is the closest I could find, sadly.
Belly and hands are from the original mouse lemur and just colour edited. Everything else I made today. c:

I'm familiar with the model if you want to shoot me a PM. I can fix the ears for you :)
