With "~BunteriroFilterBetaV2.z2f" you get the family filters like the animals are coded by the game or designers.
Often the designers don´t change the taxonomy coding and so not all the animals will show up in the correct family.

For example the aardwolf of Carnivora has a "dog coding" and so it shows up in the dog (german "Hunde") filter.

And due to this problem...

Filter Updates

I started a new directory for the edited animal files.
(The old folders were much too complicated.)

Here ist the link: Hacks for Bunteriro´s Filters

Notes:

I used .z2f files which are ready to use!
They are also coded for the continents, regions and the nocturnal filter.

But these are only hacks so you need the original animal download.
Also the hack must load after the original download, so you should add needed "z"s in front.

Atm I added several packs and many carnivorans to the directory. Other animals will follow.
.
The single animals are organised like the download library by taxonomy.

You can also unzip them in a folder and merge them (maybe with the filter) if you don´t want so many files in your game folder.
In most cases merging files is not a good idea but these files are rather small and its not a problem if you have animals included you don´t use all the time.

For example: If you add the edited file for the clouded leopard but you don´t add the clouded leopad itself to the game, there will be no problems like white sqares etc.

It´s also possible to override the main animal.xml in the "full animal" file.
Keep also in mind that these edited files contain several other changes like no space requirements, no privacy needs and acceptance of all biomes!

Here a feedback would be nice if you like that or if I should add different versions, one with all that edits and one only with the filters.

If you have any problems or questions don´t be afraid to ask!

Yes I know, this is the problem if you only use the "bunch filter" from the "~BunteriroFilterBetaV2.z2f". I used the aardwolf as an example for an animal that would show up in the wrong filter with only the "~BunteriroFilterBetaV2.z2f".

But - just like I explained - thats not my mistake and not a mistake of my "bunch filter" "~BunteriroFilterBetaV2.z2f".
Thats due to the fact that some of the original animals and many of the downloadable animals are not coded with the right taxonomy! (because without my filters the taxonomy coding do not really matter ingame.)

So, if you want the correct family filters (and also the continent filters) the "~BunteriroFilterBetaV2.z2f" is not enough. You need the codes for every single animal. There is nothing I can do about this because "bunch filters" will not work if the animals have the wrong taxonomy codings. Therefore I started the directory with the edited animal files.
If you use there just like I described in my last post, everything works fine.

In case of the aardwolf from ZTABCs Carnivora, you should also download the edited files for carnivora! (and make sure with "z"s that the edited files load after the original or - as permanent way - let the edited files override the originals.)
Here is the Link to the edited files of packs
Then the hyena shows up in the right filter.

The reason why designers usually don't change families is because a lot of the coding works with families, so if you change the family, you have to track down and edit many bits of shared code. Most of the object interaction is coded like that.

Wouldn't it be more sensitive to lump them together into larger groups? Like suborders or even orders? That way you get less filters, and the filters you get just from editing the family xmls are likely more accurate.

I started this filter project for myself and I actually like the filters with this detail (and also some families are combined or relatively large). So for examples I combined small mammals like bats, rabbits, squirrels but don´t want all the carnivorans in on efilter.
Thats just my personal taste. ;-)

It is not such a big deal to make an alternative filter system with less detail for the families or a higher group in the taxonomy.

Sadly this does not solve the problem with the other filters for continents, regions or nocturnal animals.

So some feedback from the community would be nice to improve the filters or for alternative versions.

Edit: Now you can find a list with the download links in the first post.

A new pack of animal info signs is done.
It includes 60 signs with pigs, antelopes, bovines, carnivorans and some mixed animals I needed for my zoo. Again all in german.

I thinks some of you are not amused to have so many animal signs in their game without having the fitting animals.
So I started a database for the single signs and uploaded an "empty" file. This file is coded and you just have to fill in your wished animal signs.

How to get it to work:

Step 1
Download the file and the signs you want.

Here you can get the file: Bunteriro_CustomInfoSigns
It can contain 50 signs (5 objects, 10 sign variants each)

Here is the sign database: Sign Database

Step 2
Change the names of the downloaded signs from "animalname.dds" to "Sign01.dds" ("Sign02.dds", "Sign03.dds" up to "Sign10.dds").
Note: If you don´t want 50 different signs, fill the 50 up by using your wanted signs several times with different names/numbers.

Step 3
Open "Bunteriro_CustomInfoSigns.z2f".
Put your renamed signs in: "entities/objects/scenery/InfoSignSet01"
(or "entities/objects/scenery/InfoSignSet02" for the second main object and so on).
Note: The folder where the renamed signs go contains the SignSet##.nif".

Thats it! Now you only have signs for the animals you want.

Are you planning to do English signs?

The main intention to start with the signs was to have at least one sign for all the nice animals available for the game (and I´m using from time to time). Now I have more than 400 signs and the completion of the mammals is in sight.

Therefore I think I will start to translate and release the packs in englisch in the future, too! But till that there are many signs to to. My focus are the german signs for my game and the birds, reptiles, amphibians and fishes are on the waiting list.

But:
With the database I can offer single signs. So if you have special wishes I can make some without the need to fill up a whole set (at the moment)!
So anybody can just say which signs he would like to see translated if they already exist in german or which new animals he would like. ;)

I´m also open to wishes of small packs with let´s say 10 signs.

In the last months my signs get a bit more elaborated. I´m now not so happy with my first signs so I started to rework some. In this process I also started with the translation. Here you can see the first examples, the new and translated version in the front, the old behind:

Besides the rework and translation I´m adding new species to my sign collection:

You can find she shown signs in the database to include it in your collection by yourself (using the CustomSignSets).
A finished pack is not ready for download yet.

I can´t speak/read korean, so sadly no. Also just one language is much work for all the animals available, so I don´t think that I will translate all the signs even in english.

But everyone can download my signs and translate it to their wanted languages. If so it would be great to share it with the community (I could upload them on the database).

I get a bit bored by making signs and started skinning a new animal:
