Whoa! Serious Deja Vu! I could've sworn that name had been used already! Wow talk about trippy! haha

But seriously this is truly and awesome find and IIRC isn't this the first Caenagnathid with direct feather evidence?

I had a sneaking suspition that there was some miscommunication between the scientinst or mostly likely the editorial that publish the paper and the paleoartist that were informed before hand about it because I'm pretty sure I watched depiction of Apatoraptor before the paper was published.

BTW what is the feather evidence? Quill knobs or something? Because the article (which I find to be rather poorly written overall TBH) just vaguely says "CT scans show it had feathers" and leaves it at that without any further elaboration.

That said, interesting discovery overall.

I'm not slow! That's just my moe!

When it says "sitting no a shelf" this fossil has actually been on display for some time, just mislabeled as Chirostenotes, so I'm not entirely sure what the miscommunication was but it was definitely something.

*edit*
I'm not certain exactly what this evidence is but it was obscured because the fossil had been left unprepared for many years, hence whatever this feather trace is was only visible in scans.

The evidence are the ulnar quill knobs, which supported the larger wing feathers.
