I would love to see a giant tree pack. It adds a lot of variety to some zoos.

I would also like to see some dragon blood trees.

A list would be helpful @megaraptor (especially if worded like the packs are)
I'm not all that familiar with trees outside NA

I'm thinking about potentially doing something like this:

Giant Tree Pack:
•Grand fir (Abies grandis) -temperate rainforest | North America
•Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis) -temperate rainforest | North America
•Mountain ash (Eucalyptus regnans) -montane + temperate rainforest | Australia/ tasmania
•Coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) -temperate rainforest | North America
•Klinki (Araucaria hunsteinii) -montane | Papua New Guinea

Montane expansion pack:
•Lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta) -Montane |North America

Dry forest expansion pack:

Cold desert expansion pack:

Temperate forest expansion pack:
• Eastern/ Western White pine
•African trees

Foliage expansion pack:
• Scots pine mediterainian scrub?

Perhaps I could also make a 10 piece ground foliage pack, anyways:

Whatever species you people list the most I will make an effort to do.

Looks good, although I'd probably put the Scotts pine in either boreal or montane.

As for other trees, I'd like the see a yew, banyan and in keeping with the festive season, holly.

I'm really liking your idea Palp. I think that would work marvelously.

Great idea. We really needed new foliage for those biomes.

Alright I'll get on that! And people, if you think one of these doesn't fit, or you have a better suggestion, throw it out there!

So Mediterranean for the Iberian Penisula

  • Stone Pine (Or maritime pine...Or Aleppo Pine) (Pinus pinea, P. pinaster. P. halepensis) Scots pine seems to be more Boreal, but that was just me looking at a map quickly. Also, I think there's a Stone Pine that was made somewhere around here.
  • Cork Oak (Quercus suber)
  • Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) (there are a lot of oaks in this area and biome)
  • Spanish juniper (Juniperus thurifera)
  • European fan palm (Chamaerops humilis var. humilis) (could be a large plant too)

Temperate Deciduous for North Africa -there's a lot of overlap with here and the above region

  • Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica) (probably the most important food source for the Barbary Macaque)
  • Algerian oak (Quercus canariensis)
  • Algerian fir (Abies numidica)
  • Stinking Juniper (or Prickly Juniper) (Juniperus foetidissima or J. oxycedrus)

Wetlands of Africa -I'm going off of more Southern Africa, surprisingly hard to find trees just by searching

  • Makalani palm (Hyphaene petersiana)
  • Sycamore Fig Tree (Ficus sycomorus) (HUGE tree, not so much tall as it is W I D E)
  • Sausage Tree (Kigelia africana)
  • Common Reed (Phragmites australis)(would be a plant, and probably a pain in the butt to make. But it's all over the world, and would be great for wetlands exhibits.)

Temperate Rainforest of Eastern Australia (totally got east and west mixed up last time, sorry)

  • Eucalyptus regnans
  • Tallowwood (Eucalyptus microcorys) (apparently, this is one of the Koala's favorite food sources)
  • Brush Box (Lophostemon confertus)
  • Flooded Gum (Eucalyptus grandis)
  • Antarctic beech (Lophozonia moorei)

Scrub of Madagascar

  • Euphorbia stenoclada
  • Fony Baobab (Adansonia rubrostipa)
  • Bottle Tree (Moringa drouhardii)
  • Octopus Tree (Didierea madagascariensis)

Temperate Rainforest

  • Alerce (Fitzroya cupressoides)
  • Olivillo (Aextoxicon punctatum)
  • Silver Beech (Lophozonia menziesii)
  • Kahikatea (Dacrycarpus dacrydioides)

Cold Desert (seriously not many here)

  • Black Saxaul (Haloxylon ammodendron)

For Montane, I think lodgepole pine is a great choice. Maybe I'm just burned out, but it seems like many Montane trees also fit in different biomes, depending on where they are from. I also think that the animals that in the Montane biome have a pretty good range of trees- The Pandas for Asia, the Grizzly in North America, and the Gelada (and I assume the Ethiopian Wolf will be too) in the Ethiopian highlands all have a good amount of trees. I suppose some Andes species could be used though... if there are trees there? I was running into that a lot of montane areas just don't have trees, like the Cold Deserts.

Also, with the tropical rainforest... There's a surprisingly little amount of data that is easily accessible about tropical rainforest trees. I was trying to go with trees that had lots of pictures available, but those were hard to find. I'd love to see more African rainforest trees, and maybe some American ones. I think Southeast Asia is well represented, but there might be some cool things there too.

I think more mangroves and Acacia is a great idea too- there's a ton of diversity there.

As for a temperate deciduous tree that's missing- Beech. I noticed that when I was looking for southern beech species- there's also no northern species of beech. White pine is a great choice too!

This is a HUGE list. Sorry if it's overwhelming. And really, there might be some that just don't fit, sorry if that's the case.

As for the Dragon Blood Tree- isn't there one in the RR tree pack? The one that adds more trees? If it's not a Dragon Blood Tree, it's a related species.

New years teases:
Posted Image
Norway spruce (textures not drawn yet) 26.5 meters tall (87ft)
I was going to make this for a second Christmas release, but I got sidetracked...
Posted Image
Brachiosaurus altithorax (Fraser fir for scale)
I've been practicing a bit with adding animals in game. So far I have gotten most of a blue fang style brachiosaurus in game but have ran into a roadblock with bfms (are those maps?)
Either way, this is the animal I have been planning to put into zoo tycoon for a while. I plan on attempting to rig it to something already existing and then making my own animation set for it in the background while y'all have the beta version. I would like some help with this if anyone want to help.

Such an amazing Brachiosaurus. It would be interesting to see the final version with unique animations. The trees don't look so bad either.

History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind.

I think the Brachiosaurus looks great and so does the tree! :)
