You don't need a realtime UI to create a test environment for animal AI development.
You need a button so that way you don't have to redesign and move the coding to another place though.
No, you don't need to make a UI first.

To put it in a simpler and more blunt way, this is a UI's function: (pls note that this is just the concept of it)

you: "I wanna play a freeform game."
you: *clicks freeform game button on the ui*

ui: "yo this guy wants to play a freeform game. i better open up the 'freeform_ui_mainmenu' file."

you: "oh goodie, now another mainmenu page came up with a list of maps. i think i'll choose the tatooine map."
you: *clicks tatooine map from list*

ui: " he wants to go to tatooine. i better load up the 'tatooine_map_preview' file which is just preview pictures made on photoshop."

you: "oh goodie. now it's previewing the tatooine map. that looks like a cool map. i wanna play it."
you: *clicks play*

ui: "yo this dude just clicked play. i better load the 'tatooine_map' file which contains all the data of the landscaping and stuff in the map. this may take a while."

you: "lol dank loading screen."

Basically, the UI is like a list map. For every button you click on the UI, it fetches that file from it's directory which is super easy. (ex. "Unity/Zoo Tycoon 3/Data/Maps/Tatooine/tatooine_map.dat")

So if you make the UI first, what's the point if you don't have the files for it to fetch first? It'll just be a non-functioning UI.

Although, you can whip up a concept of the UI easily on Photoshop so when it's time to make a UI, we can just make it from that photoshop concept.

Well then I guess that brings my interest in computers to worthless.

Obviously I need to go to college for this. But I'm worthless to probly every college because I did horrible in high school and I seriosly absolutely hate math! Which is in fact required for most of this stuff. I barley made it to algebra 1 in my senior year. That's sad. No college will accept me and I already feel like a failure. How am I going to get anywhere guys?

From what I'm reading I think I have a basic understanding of what's going on.

Building a game is like building a house. The engine, in this case Unity, is like the plot of land. While it gives you a place to build, but it isn't a house itself. The modles, UI, etc. are like the interior decoration. Primarily superficial, but if it's done well it can enhance or greatly improve the functioning of the whole house. The AI sounds like the physical building, the most important part. It can't just be some walls stuck together. For the "building" to be structurally sound it has to be precisely planned out. It is the framework for everything. It has to be created from the ground up. Without a building there is no interior. Without a strong building the interior is useless, as everything could fall apart and crumble.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the gist of it right?

Yeah well then I can't do this. I am ADHD and I struggle with understanding what people are telling me unless they have to explain it a million times like everyone else had to. So how am I going to get anywhere.

That's a very nice comparison, yep.

It's not that you have to talk to people to understand it. We're not talking anyway, so you can sit down and re-read what we wrote, as often as you want. It's the same with tutorials, you can follow them, or you don't, simple as that. We can't make you good at developing games. Only you can. We can just give you advice.

I just feel like there's too much to learn on my own. I looked up a few basic tutorials on how AI works and they are a whole new language I don't even understand. It's so complicated I need to take a class on it which I don't even know if I can get into due to my high school effort.

I also think you're selling yourself short and using ADHD as a cop-out.

It can be hard to process large amounts of information, as well as focus in a general sense. However there are also times when people with ADHD are able to hyper-focus, especially around subjects or projects that interest them. If you go at this with that kind of mentality- being very open, excited, and willing- then I think you may surprise yourself. You've done some impressive work within the constraints of ZT2, so don't just give up because a task seems daunting.

I know but it's so difficult. If I was able to, I would have made elevators for ZT2, I would have made zoos bigger without the game crashing and I didd believe I could start another game but IDK now with my knowledge. I just don't know.

If everyone had that logic, nothing on earth would have been invented.

If you don't have the knowledge to make a game, then gain that knowledge! There's no one in the world stopping you but yourself. :)

What? Are you sure this is real?
This was found in the data mining of Gears of War Remastered Edition, this is suppose to be in the Windows Store. I hope this will be real, imagine a Zoo Tycoon like Planet Coaster, yeah they made that crappy zoo tycoon, but imagine with that mechanics of freedom!

As Nickfou3000 said , it is unlikely to be a new game and as he also said It is most likely Zoo Tycoon Friends (which is developed by Microsoft) . :)

But the list was from March 2016. The thing is Zoo Tycoon 3 could be a reality, and now Microsoft is now returning to PC gaming, I hope to see a remastered edition for new PCs like other games like Age of Empires, Mythology and Rise of Nations.

It's not what I was talking about. This is game design, I'm again not talking about implementation level. I'm talking about the planning stage, which you are to keen on skipping at this point.

I gotta side with Iben here. I'm eager as all hell too but remember the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. Slow and Steady always wins the race. You don't wanna end up like Mighty #2 now do you?
