 A Rugged and Harsh Land From the frozen landscape of the Antarctic interior, the frozen ice cliffs of titanic glaciers, and the remote and wind blown subantarctic islands Life finds a way Birds that got blown off course and stayed, Giants far below the ice, and the most numerous animal on the planet. Useful Objects Objects to fill any Zoo, Aquarium, or Museum, as well as those specifically for the Antarctic Antarctica is the most remote continent. It is also the most inhospitable. But the continent and the remote islands that encircle it are full of life. The Land of the continent is frozen and inhabited mainly along the coasts by marine animals, the Antarctic and Subantarctic Islands are home to a variety of unusual land birds and megaherbs, along with marine animals The Southern Ocean and the seas that suround the continent, like the Weddell and the Ross are inhabited by incredible biomass and surprising diversity. Dolphinking23- Well the pack contains Antarctic Wildlife plus subantarctic wildlife (Antipodes Parakeets are not from Antarctica, It is the most northernly animal in the pack) and well, yes the King Penguin is a planned inclusion. The dark Phoenix- sadly, no, the squids arms and tentacles do not move, originally I wanted that, but I am still early in my modeling abilities so it would be a challenge to both make and take a while to attach to the WLP Squid rig, but perhaps I may try to remake it, but that is probably not going to happen Any way the rest of what I have gotten done  Model by Nessich and Jannick  Model by Nessich and Jannick  Model by Hendrix |

So for now it will forever look like it's giving people a high ....well they don't have five fingers so IDK...a high hundred suckers? Beautiful birds... I noticed not many of these are actually on antarctica though. |

Well the Colossal Squid is a member of the Glass and Cockatoo Squid Family, which exhibits this behavior, only in feeding would it probably leave this position Yes I started by skinning mainly the subantarctic species, but I assure you true antarctic residents are coming |

They don't, I think the thought at Te Papa is that females carry the eggs on them and guard them, as they probably never come into contact with a surface their is nowhere to deposit them (Octopus lay eggs in a cave, Cuttlefish and other squid attach eggs to the sea floor, and humbolt squid swarm and make massive egg rafts) It is an interesting squid, while smaller species we think off as squid (like market, humbolt, European and Caribbean Reef) swim in a horizontal fashion at quick speeds, and the giant squid probably hangs vertically in the water collumn, the Colossal just sits in its cockatoo pose and lures prey in close with bioluminescence, it uses very little energy compared to other squids, which is pretty interesting. I remember watching a show about giant and colossal squid, and they mentioned that giant squid (Architeuthis) surprisingly for there size, don't attack large prey, and hang vertically in the water, whilst waiting for small squid and fish the swim within range of there feeding tentacles, whilst colossal squid, do tackle larger prey. They stated they have evidence of the hunting strategies of both species, by looking at the anatomy of their suckers. The Colossal squid has large hook-like spike in the center of each sucker, what they presumed were ideal for tackling large fish, whilst the giant squid, lacks these hooks, instead having a ring of numerous tiny tooth-like spikes on the edges of there suckers, giving each sucker a somewhat serated edge. |
