Eek I've been wanting something like these for ages. I use the piles that someone made ages ago, but the animals disappear under them. I know you said you aren't going to make heaps of variants...but maybe someone could make a fallen leaves one?
Instead of a new menu item for each type of terrain, could you not do a switchable one where each time you click it changes? I know those can be frustrating, but it does reduce menu clutter ?

I think this is a great idea, thank you for working on them and I'm looking forward to using them too.

I look forward to these. I hope they don't sink and instead would act like terrain when stuff is placed on them... I think you mentioned you're trying to make that work so apologies for ranting at this point.
I think the idea is to make the tank versions function similarly to the rock island from the vanilla game, but with the ability to place objects on them in addition to animals. Creating something like one of these:

Am I correct Iben?

All right, let's break this down.

These aren't elevated paths, so no, they won't sink the ground. What I do suggest, is placing paths underneath them just to be sure, as paths are great way to uniformly level the terrain.

These are indeed just placeable terrain tiles, like the the tiles of Snowleo. Just unlike Snowleo's, these represent actual terrain instead of concrete blocks.

There's already a woodchip one, I don't really see why there should be a fallen leaf one. Given that there are placable fallen leafs, I'd actually use those than adding them on the tiles. I'm also not sure if I'm going to make these public domain.

I won't do that, because that would really make it impractical.

Pretty much yes.

Well, that's not what it is right now, but today I want to work on the thing you see in the second picture.

Yes. But, an important note here. My intention was not to make these so you can make exhibits on all levels. I know it might be used for that, but I'm not going to special lengths to make it possible to do so.

I hope this explains it all ! ;)

If I may interject, why would that be impractical? It would make it one item versus 3 or 6 different items just for different skins. I find that coding them to change skins makes things less cluttered as Xirapha said instead of taking up space. There aren't that many in this pack, so I guess that's not a big deal, but I wouldn't say it's impractical.

You say it isn't impractical now but just wait until you have to click on and off the object twentyfour times just to place the tile in the color you want three times. I would rather have them take up eight separate slots in the menu and know what I am getting each time.

Looking good Iben! Great work on these tiles and they look super useful.

Sigh.

These tiles are often going to be placed sequentially. So, given that you have 8 skins, you would have a 1/8 chance of the skin appearing. I'll use a simplified chance-formula here, where I'll pretend that you take out the option of a skin once you place it. If you'd want to place 8 moss tiles in a row, you'd have a worst-case scenario of having to place 64 tiles before you have 8 moss tiles. And this is a simplified version, the real method will give you a 0.0000000596046448% chance of being able to place exactly 8 moss tiles in a row. For things you need to place sequentially, this is impractical.

It's pointless discussions like this that demotivate me when it comes to making and releasing stuff for the ZT community really :P

Just do it the way you want to mate. I mean, in the end people will use it no matter how it is released. If it bothers them enough then they can take the time to learn how to change it themselves.

As for everyone else, giving constructive criticism is great, but do not become insistent that things be done the way you want them to be done. Especially if you notice it's bothering them.

No good hero is a one-trick phony.

My menus are already so big I have to scroll for 50 years just to get to what I want. I don't mind a little extra clutter :) It will be a valuable addition.

Jesus, no such thing as discussion here? I just stated an opinion, that's all. I understand both sides of the argument. With all the banner packs I released, there would be like 60 individual items in the menu versus 6. Same with all the posters I've made, there would be like 80-100 individual posters in the menu.

YES, it's aggravating (even to me) to have to place a ton of banners to get the one you want, but far less than having to scroll through 80 posters/banners to find the one I need. Not to mention having to make 80 different icons.

Not bashing the project at all, they are awesome, just throwing my two cents in. I'll refrain from commenting as I don't want you to become demotivated. Was not my intention.

Iben, focus on what you want to do. People will say they want and sometimes they need to be ignored.

Ford asked the people what they wanted, they wanted a faster horse and insisted on it. He instead made the car.

Continue being like ford, be awesome and surprise us.
