Hey it's still better than what I can do at the moment! I quite like it and I believe the model creator is still DutchDesigns, with possible edits by Tamara Henson? |

Well, first I recommend you stop being so negative about yourself and your work. As you said, you are beginning. Unless you are born with the ultimate power over Gimp, Photoshop and all the designing programs, you can't be perfect at the first try. Second, it takes a lot of courage to show for a first time ever your work. So even if its not perfect, it is the first try that is the most difficult. I expect showing your work will be less stressful in the future or at least you will be used to stress a bit more. Third, well, showing your stuff is a great opportunity to ask for comments, tips and help. Point out what you are not satisfied with and ask if someone can help you. Fourth : spider monkeys!!

Thanks for commenting ! I don't think it is, I can't find anything on DD, and when you say Tamara Henson, it's a Howler that looks similar isn't it ? I really don't know.. Thanks Uolyum, made me think : I don't know how to keep a good texture. The original one has a decent one, but my work went over it. I tried to select some good areas, and then to copy them over and over but I had to blur it a little so it makes one skin. Does anyone get what I'm saying and could explain me how to make it another way? Edited by RGDS, Feb 15 2017, 10:32 AM.

I am pretty happy to announce today the beginning of my reskinner career. It's all I can do for now and I'm pretty bad at it. But I thought I had to begin somewhere, and posting on this forum would be a great start, even if my work won't impress anyone, I'm pretty motivated and I'm definitely going to do my best to improve. Any "nice" feedback will be appreciated, but please don't say : "It sucks", explain why you think it sucks. My first project is going to be a Colombian Spider Monkey (Ateles fusciceps rufiventris) reskin, trying to adapt it to a Brown Spider Monkey (Ateles hybridus). I know for now it doesn't even look like it, but this first try made me understand some of my mistakes. It is to light as well, it's supposed to be more brown. The white on the head isn't supposed to be cut in the middle by some dark. It's more likely supposed to be a white triangle, and brown around it, but I'm going to try to fix this. There is many more mistakes, but I don't know if I should post them as well, it would be sooo long. ![]() Left to right, two Brown spider monkeys, and the original Colombian spider monkey. I would love to give credit to the creator of the model, but I can't find his name. Please if you know, make sure to tell me. Have a good day I hope it's fine if I double post on my own topic. I wanted to make a clean update even though it's the same day. I tried to find a lot of pictures of brown spider monkeys, but it's a pretty rare animal, I tried to make it look more real as well. The white hand wasn't volunteer, it's not a particular character of this monkey. This is my second attempt on reskinning so far, so please, be nice. And if you figure out anything that looks wrong considering the species, tell me please. ![]() Thank you Quick edit : Again, if anyone knows who created the columbian spider monkey, please tell me, I'd like to give him credit and maybe one day ask him if it's PD. Are you working with different layers? I would recommend you to export a "map" of the model to locate how the texture match the model. To do this, open the nif file in nifscope and right-click on the model, choose "texture" and "export template". Then you save this as image file and open it as a layer to your graphic program (you maybe have to scale it to fit the texture layer). So you can locate which part belongs to what and its much easier to add your new texture parts to the places they belong. So you can avoid the "texture mistakes" mike the two-parted forehead or light coloured arms. I made a quick screenshot where you see the file of my perrier´s sifaka, in the right the different layers, the first layer is the uv map of the model and semi transparent so I can see if I place everything right.

I'll try it in the future thank you. And yes I do use layers, but I make them all in one in the end. Edit : My nidscope failed to load the nif file for some reason. But I'll try on future reskins. Looks pretty usefull indeed. Edited by RGDS, Feb 15 2017, 01:13 PM.

Hey, this looks very nice! Don't be so negative as Uolym said. I like the choice of species, we definetely need more spider monkeys. I'm into this game and community now for about three years and still don't know how to reskin animals haha... As for credits: I really don't know who made this spider monkey, I think I have never seen it before but maybe you try using a different spider monkey which is PD for sure: http://zt2downloadlibrary.wikia.com/wiki/Geoffroy%27s_Spider_Monkey_(Tamara_Henson) |

Update : After several hours of try hard, I made it to a point where I am satisfied of my work for now. I think I will retouch it when I will have better skills. I feel like it's a good representation of a Brown spider monkey. Tell me if you don't think so, I'm pretty comfortable at changing details now that I figured out what parts and where they are on the skinning image. If you notice anything that isn't supposed to be on a brown spider monkey, tell me. About the credits, I've compared both spider monkeys (the black one that I used as a base, and the one I "created"), to my other monkeys. It looks very similar to the Wolf's mona monkey, at least in game. So it may be DD based. Does anyone know if it's PD ? ![]() What do you guys think? Please comment ! Edit : One questions, in the file there is two files variant : dirt - sick. Can I delete them and replace them by real variants ? Edited by RGDS, Feb 15 2017, 02:40 PM.

I tried to add some texture, because it looked a bit too weird without any texture compared to other monkeys. I used a very inappropriate texture but I couldn't find a "better" one. Is there any website for animal texture? ![]() I thing I did it the wrong way. I duplicated the texture till it recovers all my animal. Then I deleted the extra texture. And then I tried to turn it brown. Didn't really make it, I think this version of the brown spider monkey is way to grey. I'll try again tomorrow.

Thanks Dylan ! Couldn't wait till tomorrow. I tried again, 2nd texture attempt I don't know, it honestly doesn't change that much. Should I use multiple textures on one animal? ![]() Little update : 3rd attempt texturing looks like this : ![]() In my opinion, it's the best one, but I would like if you guys could tell me which one you prefer. Thank you Edited by RGDS, Feb 15 2017, 06:01 PM.
