2) If it's being hidden behind a post requirement, I'm not going to bother. I'm too busy with other stuff to worry about trying to fiddle around and try to meet someone's specifications.
There are no post requirements on Immerse for downloads other than having to be a member.

I also feel like this is why some designers wind up just make PU items, which in turn makes people angry that designers are only making stuff for their own games. Hence the vicious cycle.

making stuff for their own games doesn't mean it would be PU.PU is just generated as people like those high quality non editable downloads.

Making something for your own game is not personal use? :S

So people only make personal use items out of high quality releases?

I download loads of stuff just so I have it if I want to use it later, I have several of your downloads sitting waiting. Sometimes you just end up getting obsessed with a couple of zoos where they won't fit.

This might not sound all that friendly, and I apologize for this, but what exactly is the point of this topic? All designers make content, some designers release that content, but I've never seen anyone complain about people not using the content that is made.

Just like a designer is not obliged to release what he made, a user is not obliged to download and/or use what is made available to them.

No good hero is a one-trick phony.

I think he knows that, my understanding is that he was just curious why he gets so many hits but never sees his stuff in zoos. From my perspective it didn't seem like a complaint.

Some people design simply because they like designing and don't care if their creations are actually used. Others make things they want to have in their game and also decide to share them. But some people design specifically because they want others to use their work in their games. (Yes of course there can be some mixing of these motivations).

I understand Deep Six because I also design primarily because I want to see people use what I make. I don't play anymore so I never get to use my own creations. It just makes me feel good to see others enjoying my work. This is why most things I make are based on things people ask in wishlists or "Where can I find this download?" threads.

Now of course, no one is forced to use what we make. But still, when people ask for something, thank you for making it saying it's useful, and then you never see it actually being used, it makes you wonder if you are doing something wrong. If you could change something so that it would actually be used, or if there is another reason. If you design for other people to use your work, and they don't, you just lose your motivation to keep making new stuff. At least this is my point of view.
