And my modus-operandi for the most part is just grabbing parts from pre-made models and welding everything together to create whatever monstrosity I envision.
You and me both, my friend. I find it easier as well, but my issue is I can't model from scratch, haha. I don't think people seem to mind the practice as long as it has a rhyme and reason to it, though, and that the parts don't contrast so much. Sometimes it's easier to take a foot or a tail from a pre-existing model that would otherwise warrant a good portion of your time which could be better spent elsewhere.

I never knew you way back when, never was on Gaia myself, but I look forward to seeing what you create! I'm glad that you took the time to have a break, however, and hope that you stay well.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Serpyderpy :D and I’m relieved to know that it’s not that big of a problem to use parts from other models.

Even though I’m still not quite there in putting the more complex models in the game, I’ll still make them and post little previews. For example, here’s a very quick concept model for the Toucan entertainer costume just so I can show what I'm going for:
Posted Image
I used Hendrix’s Santa entertainer as a base because it’s a more decent base than the BF one, with pieces of ZT2’s own toucan to make the wings, mask, and tail.

The idea is that there will be a variety of animals so that entertainers will be better suited for different types of zoos other than the extinct-themed ones from EA. It’s not a big mod, but, personally I like to play Zoo Tycoon 2 properly sometimes, so not only I like it to look beautiful with the mods, I also like it to WORK nicely too. And I find the entertainers to be quite useful while playing ZT2 (them finicky guests…), but it’s disappointing that it only has the Extinct Animals ones.

I do recall seeing you before Panrex, good to see ya back to. I'm liking that entertainer remake and especially that rex skull. :)

You would be much better off using bfbs instead of trying to avoid them.

I do plan to get to learn how to use BFBs eventually, if it means not having to deal with Nifskope. :D

Another little preview for the Tyrannosaurus skull stand:

Before I get to make its variants I’ll just release a “trial” version that uses the textures pictured, just so anyone who wishes to use it can do so until I finish all of them.

So yes, Nifskoping is... Something... I'll pretend this never happened and skip right to learning how to use BFBs already.

I quickly went for Hendrix's tutorial and started familiarizing myself with it. The good news is that the Tyrannosaurus skull DOES appear in the game, but...

Spoiler: click to toggle

It appears as a partying, seizure-inducing Rex. Is this a common problem or is it something only my ineptitude could achieve?

You either did not create a material in blender, or you forgot to include the "materials" folder that was exported along with the BFB.

You were right Hendrix, it was the materials folder missing, oops. :x I misunderstood what you meant so I just revised all steps many times until I realized, but at least I got the gist of it, I think.

Anyways, there are a few issues I still need to solve before I call it 100% finished (for example, the object lacks a collision box and a zoopedia entry, and I need to grab that piece of coding that make guests look at objects), but I spent so much time solving the main issue I’ll leave it to another day. Since these are not exactly a big deal, I believe it’s adequate for that trial early release like I said, so here it is everybody, please enjoy! :D

I'm quite proud of it, being my first ever ZT2 object made without being a retexturing, so I hope everyone like using it as much as I liked making it! :D

History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies, and misfortunes of mankind.

Thanks for the release, will come in handy with museums :)

Thank you for the release, man, just as I was starting to mess around with the idea of a dinosaur park. This will come in very handy.
