Thanks for the comments everybody, it means a lot! But I have an annoucement to make, so I'll be quick: my keyboard is a goner (I'm writing this with a very contrived method), but until I solve it, my projects are paused. However I managed to finish the Phlebopteris model abd texture for a preview!![]() Phlebopteris is a species of fern from the Triassic period, and is usually reconstructed as this "miniature palm tree", though the arrangement of the fronds is quite open for interpretation. @MonsterHunterGarth: that gif lol @Serpyderpy: thanks for the kind words. I'm good though, we already decided to make the most with whatwe received. I'd like to write this better (and comment in project topics, too!), but hopefuly I'll solve this issue very soon. Thanks for the patience, everybody! |

Years ago a fan made an online supplement for After Man called Metazoica. According to the authors blog post at the time she had had an interview with Dixon about some of the animals and incorporated it into her project. Alas the original site is now gone and the author is moving away from Dixon to make the animals more 'her own'. Luckily I have a copy of the original I can PM you. For the new site (missing most of the original content) you can go here: http://www.metazoica.net/ Anyway in this project the Batavian 'rabbuck' is indeed a bat and is called Cryotopterus and the main carnivores of Lemuria are dinosaur-like descendants of Elephant shrews. |

I was going to refrain from writing anything until I got a new keyboard, but that can't wait! I would very much like that copy! Also, I am familiar with Metazoica, yes, though at the time I didn't look much into it. and I did find that deer-like bat when I was researching for design inspirations for the one I did (I came up with my design without knowing theirs at first, just to be clear XD); I have my own ideas regarding the Lemurian predator, and I'll go into details once I'm able to properly do it. |

Remember folks, always love your keyboard. It's no fun at all to go without it! I really wanted to make the "batelope" since I want the second Night Stalker diorama (it will receive its own diorama too), but all of a sudden today I got really, really inspired to make the Gigantelope, so it's pretty much finished and only need the texture! Here's a preview of the finished model: ![]() Since the illustration in the book isn't any good to make the texture out of, I'll make do sourcing from large mammal photos. I am, however, happy with how it looks, though I'm not there in terms of AD quality, I figured it's not really necessary to make something extremelly detailed to look good - even AD's own lower poly models look great. Also I realized I forgot to show the finished Fin Lizard model, oops. ![]() It needs some adjustments in the texture to have a better scaly appearance. But yes, trying to make it into a functional creature didn't work yet, but at least I got another After Man ready for a diorama! Speaking of which, because of the large size of the Gigantelope and similar creatures, their models will be a standalone items, so you can place them on the outdoors or create your own scene for the indoors dioramas. It's better, I think, than create a humoungous and cumbersome diorama. |

The fin lizards looks super cute, and I love the Gigantelope model. I am very much so looking forward to these as animals! |

The model is great. But you mean you'll only code them stage objects? Why do not you make it a functional animal? I can help with it if you like |

At the moment I only know how to make objects and plants, so on the very least I can showcase the models I make this way. As stated, I tried making the Fin Lizard as a funcional animal, but haven't quite figured it out yet what I was doing wrong. If you're willing and able to do such a thing, it would be greatly appreciated! I mean, I still aim to learn how to do it myself, but I definitely won't refuse any help! |

Of course if my friend, if you want you can send me the file of the lizard to have a look. As for the big animal, you can send me the model, and I will do the code and Rigg and send it back, so you only have to replace the skin and it will be ready |

Thanks! I'll send you a PM. And the Gigantelope isn't quite ready yet. Once it's all set I can send it. |

Did a little bit of the Gigantelope texture, so I got one nice preview for the day:![]() Still haven't touched on the horns, face, and feet, but I'm quite happy with how it's progressing. There may seems like there's a lack of details in the body and limbs, but I suppose that's just how large mammal are; still, I'll see what I can do to enhance it. |

I've been lurking in your thread for a while but haven't commented yet anyway, I'm really impressed with what I've seen so far! The dioramas and models you've shown so far look really great, you've clearly done a lot of research and planning for this project! Can't wait to see where you go in the future with this!

Got to finish all of the Gigantelope's model and texture adjustments! I must say I quite liked making the texture out of photos, I might retouch the others to have a better appearance using real textures, but I still need to look into it. It was also interesting to make such a big one (the dimension is 1024x2048), but I think the result is worthy.![]() I also wanted to see how it looked in-game already so I quickly made a test object that will from now on allow me to see the objects I make quicker. So here's a little scene I created to show how it will look like: ![]() Don't know if it's just my settings, but it seems the texture is loosing a little of contrast; I'll see if I can adjust that. Overall, I'm quite happy with the result! Now on to the next model that I really really want to make: my favorite animal of another certain SE series. |

Ahhh, the hype! These look great, the texture is beautifully done. I never thought I'd be this invested in a speculative evolution project. |
