This batelope is beautifull! Do you gona make diorama with it smillar to this from book(but obviusly without rabbuck)? Also what animations will it use? Imo gazelle animations colud be good choice, at least before custom animations become possible.

I love your take on the batalope. It's coloring reminds me of an Okapi, perfect for a jungle animal. And something about its big ears make me smile :)

The diorama will replicate the same scene, but with the batelope in the rabbuck's place, yes. I had to make the batelope the exact same size of the rabbuck (contrary to what Dixon said, that is NOT a "dwarf" rabbuck at all. I did the calculations, that's the same size as the regular rabbuck) to match it as best as possible. Also, the picture in the infobox will be properly adjusted to have a batelope in it.

In addition, it will receive its own separate diorama as well. :D

As for the animations, it's either going to be the okapi or the giraffe. The latter simply because I like the idea of it using animations that aren't usually seen outside of their original, like the giraffe's aren't that common outside of other giraffes, Quetzalcoatlus and maybe Brachiosaurus. However it might not be a good fit with the model, so I'm not holding my breath.

I really liked the idea of the stripes; I implemented it in the design soon after the rough sketch I posted. The long ears was one of the last details added, when I figured I had to base it more on the rabbuck (that and it just wasn't the same with short ears!), I think it makes for a really unique creature, and I can't wait to make future safaris and put it in the jungle area!

Anyways, today I felt like working a little more on the prehistoric plants pack that I keep postponing, and fortunately I got to solve the Itopsidema issue. I got motivated to be bold and I made the Asterophyllites! Here's a preview:

Posted Image

Asterophyllites is a species of very large horsetail that existed during the Carboniferous period; the textures and overall reconstruction are based on Xfrog's model. It might be a bit excessive for Carboniferous exhibits, but I'm sure non-time period accurate animals will like it too! I know the Megasquid will! xD

The Itopsidema (completely redone), Phlebopteris, and Asterophyllites are all in the game and functioning nicely! :D I want to make two more plants, and then release the first part of the prehistoric flora pack. Until then, here's another preview for the day:

I actually really liked the Phlebopteris as ground cover.

Got so pumped I finished another plant, :D the Bjuvia:

Posted Image

Bjuvia is a cycadale from the Permian and Triassic periods, adapted to living in the dry enviroments of these periods. They're usually more well known compared to the other plants I made, and are easily identified by their peculiar appearance.

With that I just have one more plant I want to make before the release, but that'll be a task for the next day. See ya next time, everyone!

grenuk would be a better fit for the batelope because it can rear up onto its hind legs to use the browse holder, the batelope using genuke animation would make it look like its using its thumbs to eat

The gerenuk was actually my first option, much for the same reasons, but I didn't like how often the rearing animation played while just standing. But I am willing to reconsider it; there must be something in the code to help lessen how often it's used.

Anyways, it's release time! :D It's been some time since I announced it (and made a proper release, in fact), but here's the first part of the prehistoric flora pack. Please enjoy!
