I just noticed that the links on their website leads to a message about Microsoft sending a DMCA in 2011. I have uploaded this to my forum with permission. My question is should I remove them since Microsoft sent the DMCA to Mediafire? I also have them hosted on Mediafire, but I have never received a notice or warning. It must be just the Download This First download. Edited by SLGray, Aug 29 2017, 01:28 AM.

A DMCA strike is more of a 'please take this down or we will take legal action' thing, but it only really works if there's something Microsoft owns. What exactly is in the download first .ztf? If it has any part of the base game in there unaltered, then I wouldn't try to reupload it. The others parts are a grey area, since it uses base assets (anims, coding) but the models might be custom or heavily edited. Does the expansion explode if you use it without the download first .ztf? I know sometimes those are just filters and other such things. |

It is the download that has the filter and other things to make the other downloads work. That is what the description says. I really do not know what is in the z2f.

I've already reuploaded the file and I haven't had any issues. There aren't any original Blue Fang files in it as far as I know. You have to remember that II was made during Microsoft's ***hole phase when they didn't support the modding community, as evidenced by them taking down mods & the presence of .bfb files.

I must not have been around when that happened. I thought Microsoft loved the online community. Did they not have representatives on forums? The notice on Mediafire was dated 2011. Edited by SLGray, Aug 29 2017, 03:37 PM.

BlueFang loved the modding community, Microsoft, not so much. |

Yeah no, BFB files are just a lot more efficient than nif files in the ZT2 context. It has very little to do with Microsoft not wanting us to use the models. |

I really did not post this to start a debate about which company loved the online community. I just wanted to know if I should remove the Download This First download since the official website had a link to a DMCA notice. About the representatives on forums, I believe they were from Microsoft. The reason why I say that is on a forum that I was on staff of was contacted by one. He stated that he was a Microsoft representative. I mean they would post a topic about their projects. The last one I remember was about Zoo Tycoon for the XBox. But at the time, he did not state it was for the XBox. Edited by SLGray, Aug 30 2017, 03:01 AM.

Seriously, at this point in time the game is 12 years old, Blue Fang doesn't exist anymore, and I doubt Microsoft gives half a crap. (Refresher: The reason why people used to hate BFBs is because in 2007 we didn't know how to open, import, or export them.) Edited by TigressDragonblade, Aug 30 2017, 06:24 PM.
