Last week I had the amazing opportunity to visit Borneo for the first time. We stayed in Kuching and Mulu, visiting the Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary, Bako National Park and Gunung Mulu National Park. I will post a few shots in this thread! (please note that I am pretty new to photography - I just enjoy it :D)

No good hero is a one-trick phony.

0/10 no orangutans

These are good for a beginner! The snake picture is far and away my favorite, the composition is pretty good and they way it contrasts with the mostly grey background is very pleasing to the eye. Any idea what species?

Haha the orangutans didn't let me take good photos because my lens isn't good for wildlife :P

I believe the snake is a Bornean Keeled Green Pit Viper. :)

A few more... :) I know the orangutan picture isn't as high quality, but it is really cute. It was too far away for my lens to get it. :P

Bornean bearded pig, I'm jealous! Only got to see geriatric, unpure (Sus barbatus barbatus [sensu lato]) captive individuals.

The crab-eating macaque and the orang-utan pictures look great as well, I wish I had any good, basic lens to be honest but my camera is compact. :/

Here are a few more... Again, the monkeys were very far away but I got close enough to take these pictures:

G'day mate

Really nice shots. It somewhat takes me back to my own visit to Borneo a few years ago. Visited the same sites as well as Danum Valley and Gomantong caves :)

My biggest highlight of the trip would have to have been spotting a tarsier in Mulu, however it remains my only regret of the trip that I was unable to capture the tiny creature with glowing orange eyes. So instead, I will show a few pictures of my second-biggest highlight - the bats of Deer Cave!

As many as 3 million wrinkle-lipped bats live in the cave, in addition to eleven other species. Every day, just before sunset, bats will fly out of the cave in a mass exodus. The clouds of bats looked like ribbons of smoke from a distance and sounded like a rushing river. On the second day, we watched a continuous stream of bats fly out of the cave for at least fifteen minutes.
