yah but so do fish and insects...
doesn't make it any more of a reptile

the only logical reason really to deny dinosaurs status as birds is the number of tail vertebrae

Sorry but the status of bird would not apply for all dinosaurs so saying that is incorrect in my opinion. Although i agree that Anchiornis is more closed to be a bird than other dinosaurs. But dinosaurs as a clade are not birds.

Hadrosaurs, Prosauropods, Sauropods, Ceratopsians, primitive dinosaurs that appeared BEFORE birds... non of them would clasify as birds. Birds evolved from dinosaurs, not the other way around. It makes no sense to use the clasification system backwards.

but they shouldn't be reptiles, they have more in common with birds than reptiles
and you still gave no reason

Just a branch of dinosaurs are more related to birds... not the whole calde. This is the kind of generalization that is refered to in the prehistoric speculation topic (where by the way is where this discussion should be moved since is off-topic in this topic).

And my reason jumps to the sight by only looking at all those groups of dinosaurs (and more) than have almost none of the birds characteristics... and most of them appeared BEFORE birds.
