My thoughts on Disney 2D films

Fantasia, Amazing, great movie.
Snow White, very enjoyable, though I do find it distracting how much Snow White's singing voice sounds like Betty Boop.
Pinocchio, great movie, dark as all heck and enjoyable
Dumbo, fun movie, pink elephants still makes me feel confused and weird
Bambi, well written movie, good build up and Bambi's mom's death is still a shocking moment
Saludos Amigos, probably should have been a 'making of' documentary rather than a feature film
The Three Caballeros, a very strange film, it's got a very in your face atmosphere, I'd recommend watching bits of it as shorts rather than all at once
Make Mine Music, Fantasia 2.0, but not as well done, still enjoyable to watch though
Fun and Fancy Free, two short stories mixed together, one cutesy and one with Mickey, quite enjoyabe though
Melody Time, Make Mine Music 2.0, I'd give it a watch, but not repeated viewing
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, VERY enjoyable movie for me, combines two stories and one of the more underrated
Cinderella, enjoyable, I really like the villain, though like many Disney movies the two minute romance is an irritation
Alice in Wonderland, one of the best of the Disney movies, I love this film
Peter Pan, again I'd say this was a great film, Captain Hook and Smee really make it great
Lady and the Tramp, pretty good movie, not my favorite, but that's just personal opinion, and I can understand why people love it
Sleeping Beauty, the main characters are bland, but the villain is one of Disney's best, I'd say this is only ok, but Maleficant is awesome
One Hundred and One Dalmations, an enjoyable movie, Cruella again makes the movie like Captain Hook and Maleficant in their films
The Sword in the Stone, I like parts of this, others I don't, overall not Disney's best, but definitely not bad
The Jungle Book, I find it a bit overrated, that being said I'm a large fan of the original work and don't like the deviations from the source material, so I'm biased here
The Aristocats, quite forgettable, the dogs were funny but that's basically all I remember, oh and the songs were a little grating, at least to me
Robin Hood, A well made movie, actually better than I remember
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, absolutely brilliant movie, one of my favorites
The Rescuers, not the best, it focuses a little too much on cutesyness and the little girl in it is obnoxious due to being designed soley to be 'pwecious'. I might be being harsh, but this is because the sequel was amazing, showing the concept could be great if done right
The Fox and the Hound, I actually like this more than the infinitely more depressing book, very good movie, though freaked me right out as a kid
The Black Caldron, some of Disney's worst, the animation was good but that's about all I can compliment it on, main character is incredibly annoying, at least to me
The Great Mouse Detective, an enjoyable movie which is done well, and mainly focuses on the very engaging and likable villain and hero relationship
Oliver and Company, not that bad, a little complicated, it suffered from coming out the same time as 'Land Before Time' though
The Little Mermaid, I quite like it, though wish I'd seen more of Triton since he was the one who went through development as a character rather than Ariel
Rescuers Down Under, Most under-appreciated Disney movie ever, go out and buy it
Beauty and the Beast, the Disney princess formula from Cinderella and Snow White, but perfected
Aladdin, an enjoyable pop culture referencing movie, great characters, liked the somewhat Shrek-like fantasy/pop-culture mix atmosphere to it (though of course it came first)
The Lion King, can you honestly not like this film? I don't think it's perfect, and there are nitpicks, but that's all they are, nitpicks
Pocahontas, all right, not my favorite, the villain and John Smith both come off as somewhat generic, it's not bad, but it's not great either
The Hunchback of Notre Dame, an extremely dark and risky movie, if it didn't have the Gargoyles it'd be almost perfect, still love it though
Hercules, basically they tried to make a second Aladdin with Greek Mythology, don't like this movie much at all, though I admit I do like Hades' character
Mulan, great movie, Mulan is very engaging, the comedy is great, I just wish the villain had been somewhat more memorable
Tarzan, It had potential, but focuses on the wrong things, I'd liked to have seen more of Tarzan trying to fit in among the apes and feel that he's suffering as the outcast, still an enjoyable film, but not Disney's best
Fantasia 2000, enjoyable, not on the level with Fantasia, but still enjoyable
The Emperor's New Groove, a very funny movie, the villains are what made me laugh most, they are great and I'd watch just for them
Atlantis: The Lost Empire, a very well animated film, though I felt it lacked substance
Lilo & Stitch, the relationship between Lilo and her sister was done so well I almost wish this didn't have aliens and was just the story of them, still a very enjoyable movie
Treasure Planet, love Steampunk stuff, a well done Steampunk adaption of Treasure Planet, kudos
Brother Bear, same as Lilo & Stitch, just with no bears and focusing on the Inuit culture, the early bits with just Inuit culture was kinda how I'd liked to have seen Pocohontas done
Home on the Range, to me, Disney's worst, all the others I can think of something I like in them, this one I honestly can't
The Princess and the Frog, an enjoyable movie, horribly underrated and with a great villain
Winnie the Pooh, I admit I have a soft spot for Winnie the Pooh, the characters are just so nice and lovable I can't help but enjoy them

OMG, the pink elephants scene was by far the most disturbing thing I watched as a child. :P It gave me nightmares.

I adored Bambi as well. I love the fight scene in the end.

Maleficent is by far one of the best disney villains. Her, Ursula, and Scar are my favorites.

"Man's theme" from Bambi is what inspired Jaws music. The only thing they changed is Jaws' is only two notes and are repeated quickly.

While Bambi's "Man's theme" was three notes, played slowly continously. Man's theme still makes me a little nervous whenever I hear it.

I always love in Bambi how you never see the humans, just hearing the animals talking about them, seeing the animal's panic really is more powerful

And I didn't know that about Man's theme, that's really cool

And yeah, it's one of those freaky but awesome moments of your childhood, like the insane tunnel of fear in the original Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory
