because a more natural setup is more nice to some people. i myself wanted to try a US freshwater fish combo, but after some experience i found some problems: - Pumpkinseeds are very aggressive towards smaller tankmates - Channel catfish are afraid of light so they don't do anything all the day - Bullhead catfish i'm afraid they could be attacked - Largemouth Bass, the size i could afford is under the minimal lenght allowed by law to keep one (unless i get it from a private lake) |

All of the fish in your list are listed as monster fish for me! Not strange if they aren't compatible in smaller tank.I have seen some Large-mouth Bass in JJ market as well, but they are very difficult to keep here, since they need cold water. |

I ahve a mini Denison's barb Conservation with three tanks. One is a large tropical streamed one. the other two are tropical but not streamed. The temperature is a little low than that of a common tropical one. I have 8 of them now, and they live peacefully. Once when some conservation Programmers came in our locality for a school, to increase the awareness of the endangered animals, some of the students there who know me, took them to my house. They saw the tanks and were pretty much amazed. They even took away four of them in there highly equiped containers. They asked me for buisness, but my parents rejected it. From then, my friends called my three aquariums as the mini- conservation centre !

Oh! Except the pumpkn seed! ![]() But, well aggressive is agressive. They deserve bigger tank if want to be kept with other fish. Very the same to Convict cichlid. |

I originally intended for my tank to be a white cloud minnow biotope, and have them breed... but after 2 months and only a single baby surviving I got bored and added a betta, a bunch of platies, other minnows, and today a pair of swordtails. Now it's not really natural, but it's prettier and more interesting. |

Yay, fish talk! When I go back home - possibly at Christmas, but more likely come summer - i'll be getting my first ever personal fish tank. It will only be very small, but i'm going to make it as nice as possible with some nice small fish. I'd love to go natural but i'll more likely get just fake plants due to the fact that the tank will be left behind when I go back to school, and it will be up to my brother/mom to look after it while i'm gone, so I don't want it to be high-maintenance for fear of the fish dying because they weren't given enough attention. My family also has a 55 (I think?) gallon fish tank that they'll be filling as well, but I think my step-dad wants that to be his project, so i'll have to just stick with the small tank. But i'm still going to push for some really cool big fish and turtles for the big one. Turtles would be amazing.

What! Where did you find it? I never seen this topic before! btw, why won't the betta dislike oxygen. Oxygen providing will make the fish become more active. Lacking or providing oxygen means that the fish have to breath air itself and it can't move much so it won't suffocate from lacking oxygen. |

Bettas don't like lots of surface agitation and like calm water. They can get extra oxygen by breathing air, so they can live in bowls unlike most fishes. They do not mind extra oxygen, however. Mine lives in my aquarium with lots of circulation. |

So, they were right ! But I already cursed them................. anyway, my Betta's name is speedy. And here's a trick, sometimes the Bettas sit Idle and do nothing. To see their splendid color, we need to place a mirror in front of him. He will charge at his image aggresively, thinking that it is another male ! and YAY again ![]() Edited by Flower, Oct 19 2013, 11:28 AM.

Yes, but the ones that live in the tank with extra oxygen are always more active. Edited by Mathius Tyra, Oct 19 2013, 11:36 AM.
